Money isn't everything, but a little bit of money and some common sense can be. This 'friend' clearly doesn't have either. He gets totally shut down when this woman reminds him that she makes more than he does. This guy sounds like a real piece of work and maybe isn't the kind of person that you want to keep around, he doesn't even sound like he would be much fun at parties. With friends like these who needs enemies?
Good on her for standing up for herself, if they're lucky he might not come back around.
