'[My boss] is holding a personal grudge of some sort': Teenage barista is being edged out of work hours by her nitpicking boss

Landing a job as a teenager is stressful enough because you have to balance high school obligations and work hours. For one teenage girl on Reddit, her work situation has become even more anxiety-inducing thanks to a highly nitpicking boss. According to OP, her boss has been verbally encouraging her to quit the job for a while. Her boss has been judging her for making small mistakes like wearing the wrong uniform or taking too long to make a drink.

These minor mistakes are not repeated offenses, according to OP. To make matters worse, her boss also refuses to give her shifts by edging her out and offering barely any hours. OP notices that her boss offers hours to other employees, but never her. All in all, it appears her boss is holding onto a deep-rooted grudge since OP's coworkers are all seemingly doing just fine.

OP feels like she's being singled out and mistreated. She isn't exactly interested in trying to find another job where she'll have to learn new skills since she's still a busy high school student. People who've responded on Reddit are encouraging her to file for employment for lost wages instead of quitting the job altogether. Fortunately, in some states, collecting unemployment money is possible if you've been hit with reduced hours.

Update: 'I've always wanted a green pool': Couple makes repeated complaints about neighbors' backyard, neighbor decides to paint pool permanently to spite them

This swimmer is going to have a very special pool, all thanks to their neighbors.

This couple sound like the neighbors of nightmares. While most people have a passing relationship with their neighbors or are friends with them, other people don't have any intentions of being warm and fuzzy to their neighbors. Instead, they seem to spend all their time criticizing and nitpicking the smallest little details of this OP's yard.

The OP had a great solution to their constant criticisms, which was to paint their pool their favorite color. I don't know why more people don't do this. You'd be the talk of the town if you had a red or purple pool. The possibilities are endless! For neighbors this invasive, the OP would be smart to invest in a really tall fence to stop their prying eyes. Especially because in the final note, the OP says that they were spying on their kids, too. Once the OP gets these neighbors off their back, hopefully they can actually relax and enjoy their green oasis.

'They made an expensive mistake': Landlord ignores multiple bed bugs reports, tenant exposes them, costs them a fortune

There's a special place in the afterlife for landlords who refuse to address serious issues from tenants. When it comes to the rampant issue of bed bugs, in particular, it takes a specific kind of sketchy landlord to ignore those calls and emails. It is no understatement that bed bugs are about as scary as conditions can get for tenants. When even the most difficult and paranoid tenant claims that there are bed bugs in their apartment, no matter how wrong they may be, you do not want to dismiss the tenant. The consequences could be long-term and damaging, as they were for this family of landlords.

This tale of petty revenge was posted to Reddit by u/Languid_Bot, whose friend Paul crashed at his place for a big before he got his own apartment. It took less than a week in the new apartment for Paul to realize that the place was infested with bed bugs. The landlord ignored his email, and Paul learned from other tenants in the building that they believed they had bed bugs as well. Paul took the initiative and got an inspector involved. That inspector heard building management gossiping about her, which led to mandatory inspections not just of the entire building but of all the buildings this family managed. Turns out they were all in poor condition, so the inspection was worth it and the costs for the landlords were astronomical.

'I took my speaker and set it as louly as possible': Dude gets revenge on neighbor for having loud phone conversations outside his window

Living next to people in close quarters is never going to be a good time... Having restful peace punctuated by someone else's noise at late or early hours is enough to drive even the most reasonable person insane.

With a higher density population also comes the risk of increased opportunity for disturbance, what with having more neighbors living in tighter spaces giving higher chances that you'll end up next to someone who is clueless about how audible their noisemaking is or just plain old woefully entitled.

In university, one year, I had a studio apartment right next to another chap who must have had dreams of being a singer. I lost count of the number of late nights studying where I was unintentionally serenaded by his full-volume singing reverberating through the paper-tin wall between our rooms. I never mentioned it to him, and to be fair, I've had far worse neighbors in my life, and besides he was of the personality that I suspect he would have been mortified if I ever said anything, so I chose to suffer in silence, so that he could live out his diva dreams.

This dude's neighbor insisted on migrating to right outside his bedroom window in order to engage in her loud full-volume phone conversations. He quickly devised a plan to discourage her behavior. See his story below as he originally shared it with Reddit.
