For a while there it was like every new book for tweens was about a teenager in a messed up hierarchy forced to play games of death. There's nothing exactly wrong with that. It's just that like anything else, people's favorite books of their early teen years have become a coldly optimized version of themselves, designed to take advantage of a cultivated interest. For much of the world, Canadian identity has been boiled down to a few stereotypes about politeness, hockey, beavers and syrup. And there's definitely a lot of it up there. But just chalking up an entire nation to those few things is wildly unfair. They also have a lot of snow, moose, Tim Hortons and contrary to the whole politeness cliché, some of them are mean. Hopefully this has broadened the scope on what it means to be Canadian.
Sure, there are history memes for the already learned and work memes for those of us who made it out, but there remains a festering pile of memories in everyone regarding their time in school. There's nothing worse than when you have something burning in your mind that you can't quite put together. You've forgotten the name of that thing and that thing is just out of reach in the depths of your memory somewhere. As much as you try to stretch and stretch your brain you just can't get that bubble to pop and it becomes this annoying feeling that you just might not ever recover whatever that thing was from the recesses of your mind.

Designing things is hard. And it's not just a matter of spelling something correctly so that it doesn't accidentally say something filthy. Sometimes design fails exhibit really poor craftsmanship, horrible toilet placement or just a complete lack of sense. Whether it wields some kind of irony or is just sort of gross, design failures remind us daily that things can be worse.
There's nothing worse than having a new superior who just marches in and thinks they own the place. These people often have the absolute incapability to listen to other people and their ego's get in the way of them possibly learning anything from the people who have been there long enough to become a part of the furniture.
If they would just stop and pay attention for a moment they might actually be good at their job and win the respect of those under them. Instead they try to trap their employees into unethical and illegal agreements.
