Top Landlordiest Landlords Leeching Their Tenants This Week (June 16 2023)

Landlords are the worst. Those monopolizers that took over entire neighborhoods to exploit us poor folks keep taking two-week vacations instead of fixing the dang toilet seat like we asked them to a month ago. Obviously for most landlords, renters and their well-being is an afterthought. It doesn't matter if there's paint over the door hinges or mold growing in the bathroom, as long as they get that check every month. Tenants on the other hand seem quite aware of the shortcomings of their landleeches. Renters spent the last several months dumping quarters in the laundry machines only to be told they're raising the price (with no foreseeable improvements of course). No, we don't need a lecture on "market price" but if the tenants of the world wanted to speak a little common sense into their property managers, they'd be sorely out of luck.  So with that, let's commiserate and join hands in hating on the landlordiest landlords of the week. Keep scrolling to read about the few landleeches in this world who are far worse than yours. Afterwards, check out this audacious tale of boomer-energy taking over the Nextdoor app, where one neighbor tries to get unpaid laborers to fix his roof without pay.

'She said of all the... things Ive done this is the worst': Woman is infuriated to find out her brother randomly turned their family house into an Airbnb

This dude has what he believes is an excellent money-making scheme, but his mom is going to be so mad at him.  U/NicoDeeMaus had a query for the r/AmItheA**hole community. As a budding landlord, he's renting out several rooms in the house he's staying at, and living in the basement. He needs to earn some quick cash, and this is how he's decided to do so. But the OP should have known that commenters would call him TA, which they unanimously did, instead of taking his side of the argument.  This isn't even this Redditor's first fail — prior to this, he claimed to be working on a film set that his mom got him into… but he actually botched the (rather simple) job incredibly badly. That time, which you can read about here, the OP joined a commercial film shoot as a PA, only to decide it was his role to move cameras around and tell actors how to do their jobs. So, as some commenters noted, it's probable that since the OP got booted from that film shoot, he might be out of a job. His mom even helped him get that job, and he still squandered the opportunity. Now, the OP is back with a separate money-making scheme, and his mother is involved once again, though she doesn't exactly know about it.  After you scroll through the story below, read about another person who's not great with money… this manager just straight up ignored a noncompete agreement in a real "mess around and find out" kind of way.

Top Dad Jokes: Father's Day Edition (June 18 2023)

For this Father's Day, we ask that you accept your dad's corniness. Sure, his jokes may not always land. They may only make you guffaw. But every so often, they do provoke the occasional "that's a clever one!" response. We ask that this year, you lean into the amusement, even if it's just for one day. Because who are you going to hurt if you humor your old man a little bit? It's certainly not the end of the world if he thinks you find his humor more entertaining than perhaps it actually is. These are what we call productive white lies, people!   So with all this in mind, please remember to laugh at those Dad Jokes today, and laugh louder than usual! Make him feel like he's being clever and witty. It'll be worth it in the long run! When you're done scrolling, here are some more dad jokes for you!

'Shakers filled with parm cheese that molded': Chef gets revenge on terrible restaurant owner after they change the terms of their contract

It's often said that you should never break two rules at the same time, lest you run the risk of being caught for the more serious rule after calling attention to yourself through the less serious. You can probably find that phrased uttered in a similar fashion throughout the ages of this site.  When we mention this, we're usually talking about driving with a broken headlight on your way to rob a casino with your ten closest friends. You could be pulled over on the way and have the entire heist ruined… But this same principle applies to treating employees with even the barest amount of respect when you're not following the laws and regulations that surround your business. These people know the ins and outs of the laws that you're breaking, and while you shouldn't be breaking any laws in the first place, do you really want to piss off the people who know your darkest secrets? This worker decided to report this restaurant for their health code violations after being mistreated by the owner. Read on for their story; next, check out this HR Karen who tried to change the dress code and had it backfire.
