'AITA for choosing our family dog over a friend hard on his luck?': Choosing beggar friend asks for a place to stay demands family get rid of their dog first

Beggars shouldn't be choosers—and when you find yourself down on your luck or in a desperate situation, you probably shouldn't be making demands about how those who are willing to offer you support provide that support. There is nothing in this world more wholesome than receiving support from friends, family–even complete strangers—in a desperate time of need. A selfless act of support, willingly given, says more than words ever could and is often essential for making sure that you come out the other side still fighting. This being said, while providing some guidance to those helping so that they can best help you can be beneficial for all parties, the party receiving the help should be gracious and make sure they're not taking advantage of the situation or being overly demanding. Take this choosing beggar, for example; after asking to come and stay with his friend and his friend's family while going through a divorce from his wife, he then turned around and demanded that the family get rid of their dog since he was allergic.  If you're shocked by this request, you're in good company. The friend apologized and responded that they would not be able to accommodate this request, which drove the choosing beggar to badmouth the friend behind their back to the rest of their friend group. The friend shared their story with Reddit's popular r/AmItheA**hole community, wondering if they were in the wrong for refusing to oblige the demand so that their friend could stay.  Readers overwhelmingly sided with the friend in the comments, declaring that the choosing beggar was a complete a-hole for making the demand in the first place and then again for his behavior afterward... Makes you wonder why his wife is divorcing him. Read on for the friend's account of events and a selection of the responses below. 'Its not me its you': 20 regrettable things people said during breakups

In fairness, there's certainly no easy way to break up with someone. You can try to be as prepared and as measured as possible, but in the end, it always goes down differently than expected because at the end of the day, relationships are a two-way street. Your experience of how something is or isn't working will inevitably clash with the other person's perspective. So when you're finally readying yourself for that unfortunate conversation, it's unavoidable that someone will say something surprising, unexpected, and potentially hurtful… even if everyone has the best of intentions. And let's be honest: people rarely have the best of intentions.   According to this thread, which was posted to the r/AskReddit subreddit, people have said some wildly regrettable things when breaking up with their partners. Some of these comments were Freudian slips, while others were impulsive and passionate outbursts. Some of these stories are experiences that people can laugh about now that some time has passed, while others still haunt the people of Reddit to this day.    Keep scrolling below for this selection of regrettable breakup lines and be sure not to repeat the mistakes of these folks. 'They literally said "The stars weren't aligned" for that date': 20 Clients who had workers laughing behind their backs

One person asked workers to spill their "worst/funniest/strangest client story," and so many people had great anecdotes to share.  If you can't do a job yourself, you hire someone to do it for you. Maybe you're opening a new business and you're searching for a graphic designer to make you a nice logo, or your company wants to send out a newsletter, but doesn't know quite how to perfect it. In that case, it's a great option to hire a freelancer to help you out. That way you can work with someone one on one, and this person should know exactly how to get you the results you're looking for.  However, as the freelancers/employees below know, not every client relationship is meant to last. Lots of clients have little respect for the work these employees are doing. Sometimes your clients can turn on you if they aren't 100% satisfied with your work, and then they start to say they could actually do this on their own. Oh, really? Then why did you hire someone to design your website in the first place, if you're so great at doing that on your own? At least the people below, who answered u/D*mn8ti0n's prompt to r/AskReddit, have some hilarious stories to tell about the various clients they've had to work with. Some are uninformed, others are technologically challenged, and some just have no idea what they actually want from their projects, leading to lots of eye rolls behind the scenes.  Next up, this person disliked the group project they were put into, so they took some screenshots and recorded some voicemails to prove their point.

Customers found the letters and walked out before ordering': Employee attempts to tank boss's restaurant hiding letters around entire restaurant explaining why he quit

Working in customer service of any kind can be one of the most challenging things you do in your life. But when your boss is worse than the customers, that's when you know it's time to go. In this case, OP was working as a server at an upscale steak restaurant. The money was good, but the management wasn't. His boss would constantly berate the employees, tell them that they were lucky he even hired them and cheaped out on fixing equipment that posed a safety issue. The only reason OP stayed at the time, was because of the money. But after a particularly frustrating incident, OP realized that they couldn't stay a second longer, at least not in good faith. So, OP quit… but they did it in such a way that would ensure everyone would know just how terrible management was. So OP devised a petty plan for revenge, one that was well deserved. They wrote up a very descriptive letter, explaining why exactly they were quitting, and left it all around the restaurant for customers to find. When OP's boss inevitably found out what was going on, he was absolutely livid. Scroll down to read what happened next. 'They still scheduled me for that week': New employee mentions bereavement leave in interview employer schedules them anyways

Negotiating leave during the interview process can be tricky. Do you mention it to ensure you can take that vacation you already planned? Or do you not mention it, helping your chances of getting the job but drastically increasing chances that you won't be taking that vacation? If you choose to bring your leave requirements to the table of negotiation, the hiring manager then has the option of saying yes or no, or passing over you completely for the crime of having a personal life—it's all within their hands to decide which. So to have the hiring manager agree to the leave and then turn around and ignore it anyways is especially frustrating and damning as it has violated the foundations of the budding relationship. This employee shared their experience of having their new work disregard the leave they had discussed in their interview, hiring them first and letting them work for a few months before refusing to let them take the leave when the time for their leave came. They were surprised to find themselves on the schedule for that week and approached their boss regarding the mixup. Their boss gave them the classic response, "You're already on the schedule," before refusing to discuss it further. Members of this popular online workplace community shared their thoughts and advice with the original poster, telling the original poster what they thought they should do. Read on for the account of events that was originally shared with the r/jobs subreddit community. My boss promoted the wrong person after I quit; the company tanked: Boss tanks company after replacing employee who quits with new hire

When one door closes, another opens, or so they say. In this case, the door that opened led to utter and complete chaos in the work environment of OP, who quit his job after finding a greener pasture. OP was working at a large electronics retail store for many years and eventually found himself working in a warehouse position. After quitting, he was given the job of training the employee who would take his stead. So he put in a lot of hours training this new employee. For some reason, his boss decided to promote someone else instead… All the hours OP had put in now amounted to nothing. In addition, the job that OP was leaving was very difficult, and required a lot of skill and practice, with firsthand knowledge. The person that his boss hired had none of that, and it was too late, as OP was halfway out the door. To say that the company suffered as a result of this poor decision would be an understatement. Scroll down to read what happened next. For more, here is an employee who refused to train a new hire because he had technically already left the company… that didn't stop his boss from demanding that he stay in order just to 'train him'.

'You fired me cause you didn't like me': Overworked employee asks to be paid as much as coworkers gets fired rejects boss's request for sit down

Almost nothing good can come from a post-termination meeting. If you have been fired for unjust reasons, and if you are confident that your former employers are well aware that this was unjust, there is absolutely no need to give them the benefit of the doubt and the time of day. They simply do not deserve any grace from you at that point. Who will that serve? Certainly not you.   In this instance, we have an employee who learned about the other salaries of similarly ranked coworkers at the company because they were asked to handle payroll that day. It wasn't because they were snooping around; it was because they were completing an additional request from their boss that day. After advocating for a slight raise as a result of this discovery, the employee was fired not long afterward. Coincidence? I think not.    The worst part of the story is that the Redditor was completely gaslit after trying to discuss burnout with their supervisor. When their boss asked for the two of them to sit down for a conversation after their termination, the employee stood their ground and refused to give their boss that satisfaction.    Keep scrolling below for the full story and for the best reactions from folks in the comments section. When you're finished, take a look at this post about a boss who used to brag about having never taken a sick day… until he finally did.
