Yes, you done messed up big time with this one. As far as "Am I The Asshole?" threads go, this one was just glaringly obvious. You're going to bail on your boyfriend in arguably one of the toughest times of his life for a vacation with the family; and then have the audacity to ask whether or not you're an asshole for doing so? You are quite lost. Quite lost, indeed.

If being a brain surgeon was as easy as putting a stethoscope up to someone's disembodied brain, then sign us up for a nuerosurgery position. As it turns out, trying to depict someone's entire profession in a single stock image is really hard to do. Or it would be, if it ever seemed like these people were trying. Sometimes they're not just inaccurate, sometimes stock images are really weird.

For whatever reason, whether it's desperation, maliciousness or stupidity, tons of people have no problem expecting free stuff. There's people demanding too much money for their crap, companies asking for a career's-worth of experience for a free internship, and folks offering pitiful amounts of money for the crap they want you to do. Even some children and squirrels are getting in being choosing beggars.

Big retail chains can have a lot space for people to fall through the cracks, like this guy who got hired but was never told to do anything and stayed on for months. Anyway, retail and customer service is a drag, and we feel for those who get backed into a corner by an incompetent boss.

To the uninitiated, the world is noisy as hell. There's all kinds of whirring and beeping and chirping. Often, deaf people are surprised to find that things make a sound. Then there are some things that deaf people don't expect to make a sound, like this kid who was shocked to learn that farts make a sound. When you think about it, it seems like the sun should make a sound, shouldn't it?

This employee has a soft spot in their heart for spiders. When it got tense in the office with another co-worker over their refusal to kill the spider, they stood their ground, and successfully defended the life of the creepy crawler. Sounds like the co-worker is about ready to quit after this.

We're as surprised as you are. You wouldn't think a topic as dry as typesetting and fonts would actually be interesting, but since using some sort of a keyboard is something almost all of us do every single day, the history and language behind it is actually really interesting. The internet is host to many intriguing discussions on language, like this tumblr post about figures of speech, or this thread on translation.
