Money Memes for the Financially Challenged

Isn't everyone going to experience some financial instability at one point or another? Obviously, it's not the ideal place to be in, but life comes at you like a falling brick sometimes. Is that a saying? We think you got the visual.

There are periods of our lives where people flat out expect us to be financially unstable, like during school, or even in our twenties. But I don't know about you, but the older I get I'm starting to wonder what stability even is. Because it seems like once you make enough for yourself, you start merging lives with someone else, and going out more and popping out little ones who will get rid of your money faster than you can say, "retirement plan."

Anyway, whether you are currently financially stable, or on the verge of bankruptcy, we're sure some part of you will relate to these broke memes. Let's get into them.

Viral Thread: Recruiter Wants to "Negotiate" Lower Salary, Actually Wants to Trick Candidate Into Taking Lower Pay

This job candidate was asked by the recruiter if they would negotiate a lower paid rate, which turned out to just be a way of trying to get them to take the original offer. The recruiter's actions have drawn the ire of the internet after photos of the exchange were posted online.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by Reddit user u/Jbeez4117 who shared the thread, which featured screenshots of the exchange, to the popular sub. They posted the thread with the title "That sounds like a pretty f--ing one-sided 'negotiation.' Actual exchange I had this morning."

Readers voiced their thoughts and opinions in the comments and shared some experiences of their own.

"Love how their definition of 'negotiate' was for you to sell yourself short and take the pay cut for them," voiced user LongStreakOfMisery. "[A] sh!t place to work, no doubt. Good thing they showed their true colours so quickly so you could dodge that bullet."

"I got a job offer just yesterday that they tried to give me less than we discussed in the initial interview (10 f--ing thousand less)," shared whowouldsaythis. "After going thru a couple more, they tried to pull this on me. I need the job tbh, but I held my ground and actually got mad on the call. Today I met them and signed a job offer. I've never had the balls to do this before. HOLD YOUR GROUND."

Update: Meat-Loving Groom Secretly Cancels Vegan Meals, Bride Cancels Wedding and Leaves Him

This bride discovered that her fiancé had gone behind her back and canceled the vegan meals she had ordered. This put the couple in a dicey situation, put marriage plans in doubt, and led the bride to rethink the engagement.

In an update just posted, the original poster has returned to share with readers that she had decided to break off the engagement entirely and leave her fiancé.

The original thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit by u/SarahJake2022, who initially posted the topic to see if she was in the wrong for her reaction to learning that her fiancé had canceled the vegan dishes that she had organized for her family. Worth noting here that the bride has multiple family members who are vegan, and her family is paying for the catering service.

Readers were forthcoming with their feelings on the subject and clearly showed how they felt about the fiancé. Many users advised her to call off the wedding and leave her fiancé.

"NTA, and for the love of god, don't marry this man," advised user yourlittlebridie.

"NTA, unless you marry him," said Desert Sea 4998. "He showed you who he is. Believe him."

"Definitely NTA," said Constant-Apartment08. "Not only are you the one paying for the food, but a wedding is something you plan as a couple. He felt like your and your family's well-being during the catering wasn't as important as his."
