Giant Spider Falls On Pilot During Landing

Just throw this one on top of the mountain of reasons not to go to Australia. Unless you love spiders so big they have souls, then go for it. The amazing feature here is that amazingly, no one is screaming about the massive, terrified spider scrabbling around inches above everyone's heads. Regular people get in car accidents because they saw a bee, so the fact that they landed fine with a monster in the cockpit is a testament to that excellent pilot focus everyone's always talking about.

12-Year-Old Skateboarder, Gui Khury, Lands A 1080 In Front Of Tony Hawk

Man oh man, just imagine what must've been going through this kid's head after he landed that wildly impressive trick. To be able to have that moment with Tony Hawk must've lighted his heart right on up.

Student Pilot Loses Engine, Maintains Surreal Level Of Calm

Um, this guy has nerves of literal steel. The way he handles losing his literal engine pretty much escapes what one would think is possible in terms of keeping cool under the awful weight of impending physical doom. Clearly, the guy is going to make a great pilot one day.

Grandpa's Mailbox Loophole Takes Mail Into The Third Dimension

It's another episode in the wide world of mailbox drama. The rule was that mailboxes had to be 6 feet from the street, but no one specified in which direction. There's probably no way anyone could get away with this now, but that's what the past is for. What can we say except loopholes are great. Here's a dad's masterfully designed Basketball Loophole and these other loopholes people exploited for years.

25 Incompetent Moments of "Unique" Construction and Installation

Can it even be called a "living" room if there's no toilet in there? "Not my job" moments surround us, thanks to our tendency to not want to do our jobs correctly. Sure, that means a lot of way-too-low ceiling fans and stop signs that say "go" but do you think you could do better? Well you probably could. Thanks to these moments of professional inadequacy we can all feel like we'd do a better job.

People's Dumbest "I Don't Need A Doctor" Moments

Unfortunately, the internet breeds a whole lot of aggressive moments of pure and utterly profound ignorance. Many of us can fall prey to those times when we look to the internet and its collection of definitely unqualified "medical professionals" to provide advice on issues that are definitely in need of medical attention. Maybe these stories will make you feel a bit better about your own mindless moments in the realm of needing/not needing medical advice.

Twitter Thread: The Appalachians Are Older Than Most Things

Like this tumblr thread on the age of the Appalachians says, those mountains are older than bones. Not individual bones, but like the advent of bones. Alex Petrovnia gets into the geological wonder of a mountain range that spans continents and eras. It's weird how sometimes the most mundane things can be extremely interesting, like this thread on lobsters orthe electric story on the naming of Triscuits.

The Most Disrespectful Houseguests People Have Had

Every person's house is a castle, and sometimes castles get put under siege. Whether it's the neighbor's horrible kid, a random dude who got in during a party, or a brother-in-law who needs to stay for one night for six months, we've all had moments that made us wonder "why do I ever let people in here." The bar never seems to hit rock bottom when it comes to the worst houseguests people have experienced. Sometimes distance isn't even enough in the case of people's worst neighbors.

Husband Cheaps Out On Hotel Room, Doesn't Tell Wife, Drama Ensues

So, apparently there are some folks out there that define the difference of an extra $40 to be worthy of being deemed "extortionate." Clearly, this husband didn't account for the fact that the person he was giving an earful to on the phone would feel compelled to leave a reminder note about their particularly unpleasant encounter. Suffice to say, when the truth was revealed to his wife, it certainly ended up stinging him a bit.

Unreasonable Vegan Employee Refuses To Deliver Food With Meat In It

Some companies can be unreasonable, and there are some occupations out there people are sure no one enjoys. But when you refuse to do the job you agreed to do, and push the responsibility onto your coworkers, there become fewer and fewer questions about who's being impossible. It's not even a dietary restriction thing, it's a having coworkers thing. For some "intriguing" dietary stories, here's an uncle who demanded a meat meal at a vegan wedding and an irrational neighbor who demanded nutless baklava.

People Tell Their Age In Non-Numerical Fashion

Like anyone else, our best years are behind us. Or at least they seem that way, since human beings are pretty much psychologically incapable of remembering things accurately. We all want to look back at our VHS tapes and dangerous toys and say that's when we had it all figured out or "young people could never understand this," but in the end it's really just a way of dating yourself. But hey, that's nostalgia, baby.

Confusing Images Of Brain-Shaking Doubletakery

It's always good to have a reminder that your brain is dumb and can be tricked with a really minor adjustment of perspective. For example, these perspective-twisting images of doubletakery are good for an eye workout. Geese can look like spills, bugs become giant, and peoples limbs take on absurd proportions when double take moments of warped perspective come to town.

Wedding Moments That Told Guests The Marriages Weren't Built To Last

Unfortunately, too many of us have ended up attending weddings that featured "lovers" that definitely had a whole lot of the bad stuff boiling right underneath the surface. If you've ever attended one of those weddings, you've probably witnessed your fair share of cringeworthy interactions between the very people that were supposedly gearing up to spend the rest of their lives with one another. If you're looking for some more juicy wedding drama, check out this post about the time that a best man ended up roasting the bridezilla with a nasty toast

Misfortune Monday: That's How It Goes

Sometimes our lives feel like magnets for goofs, blunders, mistakes and errors. But luckily that's just sometimes. Unless of course you're the cause of all the spilled eggs, forklift crashes and exploded toilets in your life. Then we can't help you. But odds are, life is usually fine except for the odd misfortunate moments that intercept our usually okay lives. If there's ever a chance to look for some perspective it's on non-sequential but semi-regular Misfortune Mondays.

Man Makes Deposit At Wells Fargo, Learns Whole Wells Fargo Branch Left Unlocked

The reality is that all of us have a hard time completing our jobs successfully at one point or another. We're only human, after all. Fail is always lurking right around the corner. You just hope that your moment of forgetfulness and the failure that results doesn't end up looking like a whole branch of a bank being left open for any criminal to cruise in and take a crack at cracking open that safe. Of course this is the internet, and people are always searching for new ways to drive their clout up. Maybe this is staged.
