'I don’t know if we can offer your position back to you': Worker gets demoted for incident that happened while they weren't even working, boss says "sorry"

There are times when "sorry" really just isn't enough… Getting demoted for an incident that happened while you weren't even working—so that the boss's friend can be promoted into your role—is one of those times. You'd probably expect that you'd be given your job back—at the very least—hopefully accompanied by some form of serious apology or recompense. But an apology by itself, in acknowledgment of the mistake, without overturning wrongly given punishment—simply doesn't cut it.

25 Pizzas with quirky and questionable toppings

Pizzas that are this bizarre make us feel philosophical. At what point does a pizza, loaded up with the most random toppings you can think of, cease to be a pizza pie

For example, if you take a ball of pizza dough, add some white sauce, and then add lemon slices on it, and bake the pizza... Is that item still a pizza? Or has it transformed into another dish entirely?

Yes, I am talking about the Ship Of Theseus paradox, which asks how many planks of wood could be replaced on a boat until it becomes a new boat entirely. How much must one stray from the original toppings and sauces of a pizza until it's a whole new food item? Please join in these philosophical musings after you check out the pizzas and "pizzas" below.

These creative chefs are answering the paradox for us with their incredible concoctions. It seems like a lot of these pizzas hail from Brazil. The Brazilian pizzas take toppings as a personal challenge: these pies need to have a full meal on top of them. Some chefs are even plopping entire desserts onto the top of the same dinner-topped pizza! I can't imagine the taste sensations that run through your mouth as you take a bite. But someone must be eating and loving them, because they're still being fired up in the oven.

'My boss implied that not attending would have repercussions': Employee faces consequences if he doesn't go out with boss and coworkers, internet reacts

People's reactions seem to be split on this one…

This employee typically works from home but had to attend a work conference for the week with his team. This conference entailed full eight-hour work days in addition to various events and work dinners at night. The schedule was certainly eye-roll-inducing, but OP accepted it because, at the very least, these first few dinners were scheduled in advance and he was made aware of them going into the week. By the time the last day of the trip rolled around, OP made plans to FaceTime his wife during dinner and catch up. That plan was upended by lunchtime when his boss and coworkers made last-minute dinner plans. Evidently, it was a tradition on the last night for the whole team to go out together despite the fact that they had already been going out together the past few nights. OP tried to explain that he had pre-existing plans with his wife, but then his boss stepped in and threatened that there would be "repercussions" if he didn't attend this unpaid, after hours "networking" event.

Some folks in the comments section suggested that this kind of thing is part of what it means to attend a work conference. That may be true, but just because it's the status quo doesn't mean it's right. Other folks voiced support for the Redditor and his desire to have one night to himself, dedicated to his relationship. Personally speaking, I'm on OP's side here. It's completely unfair for a boss to threaten retaliation for an employee's desire not to attend a last-minute event that took place after work hours. Shame on the boss!

'You should have just paid the ticket': Landlord gives tenant expired permit, then refuses to pay parking ticket

Landlords use their ability to make their tenant's life miserable way too often, but sometimes tenants square up, and landlords need to face the bitter consequences of their actions. People say that petty revenge is for children, but I disagree and don't think that there is a particular age limit to getting so sweet payback on your landlord who owes you some money. In this case, OP had just graduated college and was looking for a place he could rent with a couple of friends. They found an apartment in a great location and signed the lease that very day.

The landlord had given OP a temporary parking permit, which at first glance, seems like a very nice thing to do. OP had driven in from the suburbs and was very grateful for said parking permit. Except there was one minor, little, tiny problem… and that was that the parking ticket in question had actually expired, two whole years ago.

OP got a ticket for $70, which he was understandably pretty upset about. The landlord refused to pay for the ticket, even though it was one hundred percent his fault. So OP had to get creative with his petty revenge. He came up with a clever plan, which you can read about below.

For more, here is an employee who got fired, when they were supposed to be getting promoted instead.
