Sometimes, you think it's just you, and then you come across a good corner of the Internet and are shocked to learn that you actually are not a crazy weirdo. Well, maybe you are, but could it be at all possible that all human beings are crazy weirdos? If there's one thing social media has taught me, it's that my quirks and eccentricities are actually not as unique as I thought. There's a blessing and a curse to that realization, of course. Everyone wants to be special, but every so often the realization that you're not can bring some comfort too. Some days, I like to think that my quirks and eccentricities are mine, and other days, I want to know that I'm normal and not a total alien. Depending on how you view the following relatable memes and fails, which were sourced from Reddit's r/me_irl subreddit, they might make you feel like less of an alien too. Major Gift Fail: Woman visits cousin's dirty home and decides to buy his wife cleaning supplies for her birthday
There are bad gifts and then there are insulting ones. This was both. This woman, who posted this thread on Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit, was clearly trying to do something nice but has horribly poor judgment. She and her spouse visited her cousin and his wife's home and saw that it was, well, dusty, to put it nicely. Her cousin's wife later apologized for the mess.
Flash forward to this wife's birthday, and the Redditor and her sister thought it would be a good idea to buy a Roomba for her. Here's the thing: a big reason why their home wasn't clean was that the cousin never picks up after himself and has a messed up perspective of gender roles. Rather than purchase cleaning supplies for the wife, they could have just talked to their cousin and encouraged him to help more around the house. Then, just buy a normal birthday gift or write her a check if you really have no idea what she would want. One person in the comments section put it best when they said that you should never buy cleaning supplies for someone unless they specifically request them. Otherwise, it's just plain old rude.

Ugh, it's just one of those days. You know the kind where you wake up, already frustrated. Maybe you had a work nightmare, or you slept on the wrong side of the bed… you open your eyes and everything sucks. You slowly pull yourself up, feeling lethargic, drag yourself to the kitchen, and make yourself the first cup of coffee of your day. Somehow, even that tastes wrong. You glance outside - It's raining, of course. Then your car doesn't start, or you miss your bus. Are you slowly getting the picture? Great, that's the point. You pull into work, step into the office, and nod politely at the familiar faces you either love or hate (perhaps there are a few that you feel indifferent about).
