Tumblr Thread: Mojo Jojo's Speech Patterns Are Connected To The "40 Cakes" Meme

This Tumblr thread discusses the connection between Powerpuff Girls villain Mojo Jojo's note-writing speech patterns and the language of the Lex Luthor 40 cakes meme. The Super Dictionary itself was a 1978 comic book dictionary featuring DC comic book characters describing various words in context. The language itself, meant to be more demonstrative of the use of a particular word, rather than entertaining or succinct, feels stilted and weird. One excerpt of Lex Luthor stealing 40 cakes gained popularity as its own meme because of the inherent absurdity of the whole thing. How dare that bad, bad man take all those cakes. He couldn't possibly eat them all himself.

This thread posits that Mojo Jojo's letter-writing is directly influenced by this style of over-descriptive educational writing aimed at children. And with the two side-by-side, it's really easy to see the comparison. Leave it to Tumblr to look for such specific connections like this.

Things People Hate The Most About Their Significant Other

There's a common misconception that love is about finding someone who is completely perfect. The problem with that is that no one is perfect. If someone out there is, good luck setting up your tent at the back of that extremely long line to talk to them. For almost all of us, a working relationship is about accepting a person's flaws within reason. Like, think twice before letting someone with terrifying anger issues and crippling debt into your life. But if someone is otherwise really great and also crosses their legs weird, you might come to the realization that you will simply have to tolerate this person's stupid way of sitting.

So don't feel bad if there's something your spouse does that you kind of hate. As it turns out, everyone has a few things that they are willing to tolerate in an otherwise good relationship. But please. If you call it a hamburder, stop calling it a hamburder. You're embarrassing yourself and everyone around you.

Tumblr Gems And Humorous Tweets To Send Boredom Packing

What can we say, we can't handle our own thoughts. Half of them are about the logistics and practicality of filling an IV bag with cheez wiz, and the rest is screams. Being inside our heads is like being in a cage with a tiger that's just been poked. And that tiger don't like being poked, no sir-ee. Our minds feel like they were produced by Tim Burton and directed by a sack full of sick howler monkeys.

So to escape the veritable haunted houses of our minds, it helps to see what's coming out of someone else's. Sure, most everyone has a head like whistling kettle of pee, but at the same time, it feels nice to see that we're in the same boat. Tumblr and Twitter are places on the internet bustling with the weirdest and most specific of thoughts and foibles, which makes for a nice brain vacation.

So dip that ladle into the interwebs and scoop out some meaning.

Husband Kicked Out of Delivery Room, Goes Home and Misses Birth of Son

When a birthing mother was taken into the delivery room, she asked that only her mother and sister be allowed to enter. This took her husband by surprise as they had never discussed anything of the sort. In a dejected confusion, he decided that he was going to go home if he wasn't needed.

u/aitathawayiwenthome shared this story about his experience to Reddit's r/AmItheAsshole subreddit, where it earned 15.6k upvotes and 6.7k comments.

It's hard to place just precisely what went wrong during what should have been the happiest day of this couple's lives. But, now, u/aitathawayiwenthome has missed the birth of his son, and his in-laws are furious at him for not staying.

As commenters have already suggested, it is bewildering that they wouldn't have discussed this ahead of time. However, I can see from his perspective that he would have assumed he would have been allowed in the delivery room to support his wife and witness the birth of his son. That would be the default expectation, wouldn't it?

I'd have to agree with the verdict here that everyone involved "sucks" and is in the wrong.
