'I got fired from a job I don't work': Guy gets fired from a job that isn't his

There are toothless threats, and then there's using your station to intimidate someone who you have no power over in the first place. It's as if a stranger told you they get to have your shoes because it's their birthday. Just because they seem to think they're in a position of authority doesn't mean you actually have to respect that authority. It's kind of beautifully freeing, actually. And it's even more amazing the more convinced they are that you owe them something. What a world we live in.

What happens when someone who isn't your boss fires you from a job you don't have? Well, this. Even when confusion comes to play, sometimes the right people get hired and fired, like this secret shopper Karen who got fired for being too much of a Karen or this wholesome time the janitor dressed up, got confused with the manager and got his job.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/IDontWorkHereLady subreddit by u/nlangevin, who shared his story of being scolded and fired after making repeated attempts to communicate the fact that he didn't actually work at the store. Keep scrolling below for the full story!

Top 20+ Shower Thoughts By Verdict Masterminds

The best ideas usually pop up when you're busy chopping up vegetables on your cutting board that isn't aging well, when you can't focus in a meeting and you're starting blankly at your boss, imagining what they look like crying, and when you're standing in the shower, singing 'And I would walk five hundred miles…'. In other words, good ideas come randomly, with no specific pattern you can discern.

We like to call these ideas, 'shower thoughts', because as priorly stated, they do tend to show up when you're in the shower. For some reason, the chemicals and atoms in your brain communicate best at weird, disorganized times. Much like Isaac Newton, who allegedly came up with the law of universal gravitation when an apple plopped onto his head.

Below you'll find some earth-shattering shower thoughts that blew our minds. Okay fine, we're totally exaggerating. But they're pretty funny. Scroll down and check them out for yourself. 'Hopefully his GF sees this red flag': New boyfriend introduced to GFs friend group, insists they all "pay their share" at restaurant

A new boyfriend is making things really awkward for his girlfriend's group of friends. You're supposed to be on your best behavior when you meet new people, especially when it's someone close to your significant other! You want to make a good impression, unless you're this guy, "Aaron."

This person wrote to r/AmItheA**hole on a throwaway account. As the OP, u/throwrasplits, tells it, they and their friend group go way back, and meet up all the time for meals and drinks. The OP has been paying their own way at these meals for quite some time, and claims that their meal is very cheap due to the way they eat. No one seemed to have a problem with the OP paying for their own food, then evenly splitting the rest of the bill, which the OP is fine with as well. But things got awkward when one of the friend group brought along "Aaron." On his first introduction to the group, he made a pretty distinct — and negative — impression on the OP.

'Houses are too boring now': 25 People who are starting "harmless discourse" with these hot takes

If you've ever visited Twitter.com, you're probably aware that there is always discourse, and it is usually quite serious. 'He actively discouraged overwork': People share tips from competent bosses who actually made sure their employees prioritized life over work

You can work and work and work until your fingers bleed and you haven't seen the sun, but you can never by back time with all that money you just earned—IF you even earned that much more money… Usually overtime isn't much, and even if it is, taxes take most of it away later. So are you really working for any sort of extra compensations actually? Or are you giving your employer precious time from your life that they can never repay you? Maybe next time you choose overtime over date night with your loved one AGAIN or you miss your kid's soccer game because the boss needed you to "go above and beyond," just don't.

A Redditor recently posted on the subreddit r/antiwork a PSA stating that "20 years from now the only people who will remember you worked late are your kids" and it caused a slew of commenters adding their two cents. Though the workforce is saturated with toxic management, you can still find some healthy work environments hidden in there—and with that comes bosses who understand the importance of work-life balance. You are a human, not a work robot, you should always prioritize life over work, period. See what others had to say about it and what they picked up for healthy management and past competent bosses below.

'He responded by adding more workload': Worker quits when boss gives them more work after they complain about their workload

Having too much work to do and unrealistic expectations from your superiors about that work is a surefire way to make you hate your job—and your entire existence. This will usually happen in some sort of toxic workplace environment where middle managers have been selected and promoted on their willingness to enforce any policy they're told to rather than on any actual skills in operations, administration, or management.

These middle managers are more than willing to pass any pressure placed on them directly downwards so that it all builds up on the lowest level productive workers, saddling them with any blame for missed targets and poor performance.

When this worker attempted to talk to their boss about their already-too-high workload, their boss responded by telling them that they were about to have two more projects placed in their hands. Their boss had underestimated just how close to breaking point the worker was, and the worker resigned on the spot in response.
