Times People Had "Wait, That Was Illegal" Moments

We live in a society.

And in this society, we have some pretty basic rules to follow. Everyone is pretty good at following them. Don't steal from or hurt anyone directly, and honestly you're like 90 percent of the way there.

But as society grows more complex, the more and more laws people deem necessary. There are protected species, various cyber crimes, public indecency rules and regulations that we all need to pay attention to, lest we risk being slapped by the long arm of the law.

And most of us do a pretty decent job of following those more complicated rules. But, being people, we're prone to lapses in judgement or straight up lacking in awareness. How are you supposed to know if right turns on red are okay in the heat of the moment? No one is coming so it seems fine, right?

Most of us aren't out here performing major tax fraud or transporting endangered species, but there's enough chaos in the world that it would be wrong to assume it doesn't find its own way of happening.

And then there are times when people are very aware of their mistakes. Here are some times people know that they screwed up.

Funny Signs From All Over This Weird World

Ever sense some prehistoric genius decided to smear ochre on the side of a cave wall, we've been communicating with terrific funny sign technology. Sometimes we get some unsolicited wisdom while other times we just get a nice reminder that no matter how stupid or pointless our day has been, someone out there wants to make other people laugh.

And sometimes a sign is just weird enough to make us rethink exactly what must have been on this person's mind. Seriously, who uses billiard balls as a system of measurement regarding toilet flushing capacity? Like, we're sure it works. It's just, we don't want to picture ourselves having to flip the plunger around and lining up a shot to bank the 8 ball off the rim.

Anyway, signs are just one of the many weird things that people use to remind each other how interesting the world can be.

Here are some funny pizza signs that are sufficiently saucy and cheesy.

Rude Karen Leaves A 48 Cent Tip, Overworked Server Gives It Back

A 48 cent tip on a 140 dollar bill is something like a 0.3% tip, right? At that point, we're just talking about a customer's attempt to insult their server. So how do you switch the power dynamic when some lady screams at you and tries to snidely insist your value is gutter-level? Well, in this person's case, they just didn't accept it.

The whole "customer is always right" mentality shouldn't empower customers to treat hardworking employees like garbage. But there are a whole lot of customers who seem to think that their mild inconvenience at the hands of a stressed-out employee is an affront to their grand omnipotence. Just cause someone hands you food doesn't mean they're a robot.

No, lady. You want to insult someone with a crap tip? You get your own crap tip back. Think about how you treat people for like a second.

For another compelling tale of a Karen not getting what she wanted, here's the infuriated dock Karen who was upset she couldn't rent a stranger's boat, and ended up getting covered in burrito.

Entitled People And Their Bold Shenanigans

We'd like to think that everyone who's mature enough to clothe and feed themselves is also capable of sticking to making only reasonable demands of the people around them. This is demonstrably not the case. There are people who will gleefully go on yelp and complain that the restaurant they just happily ate at did not honor their military discount. You think to yourself, "aw, that's not fair to this customer." It is then revealed that this complaining customer doesn't actually qualify for that military discount, but in fact thought they felt entitled to that discount because they were wearing a camouflage shirt. "This person couldn't possibly be serious. No reasonable person could think they get three dollars off a burger because of a shirt they were wearing"you think to yourself. And the sad answer is yes, "people are like this."

If you wanted to see more selfish people being the worst, here are some entitled people who made the world their big, stupid oyster.

Revenge Thread: Boss Terminates Employee, Employee Terminates Boss's Marriage

An employee got ruthless revenge on their terrible boss when they ran into him in a bar, quickly bringing a certain end to the boss's marriage after revealing a long-standing affair that the boss had been having with a coworker.

Redditor and dejected employee u/NALORpod, posted this story to the r/pettyrevenge subreddit this week. The account details a series of events at his old workplace under his terrible boss.

u/NALORpod worked as a meatpacker, while his boss was always busy packing his meat with the receptionist, "V". u/NALORpod explains that he would often come into work for the afternoon shift and find that V, who was supposed to be running clock-ins, was in "locked door" meetings with the boss. He would take over the clock-in desk while she was absent before starting his work, sometimes getting foul looks from the boss when the pair finally left the office. u/NALORpod explains his philosophy on the situation as "Not my husband or wife. Not my problem. We continue this dance of me covering her station and getting in trouble for it for a few weeks until an ice storm hits."

u/NALORpod would ultimately get fired for stupid reasons, leaving the desire for revenge burning.

Mother Leaks Her Polyamorous Lifestyle on Facebook Group, Mad at Ex-Husband For Discussing it With Their Children

After posting on a private Facebook group, this mother accidentally leaked her polyamorous lifestyle.

Her daughter's friend shared a screenshot of the post, revealing her mother's private lifestyle to her. This immediately raised questions with the daughter regarding her parent's earlier divorce. Something had never seemed right about the reasons they gave for their sudden split, and the daughter had always suspected that something was being concealed.

She approached her father to get more information and ask whether what the leaked post said was true. Since the cat was already out of the bag, her father told her the truth about their reasons for divorce.

The father posted this thread, u/throwaway82619237, to Reddit's r/AmItheAsshole community after his ex-wife found out about the conversation with the daughter. The couple had split due to the wife's realization that she was polyamorous and no longer wished to lead a monogamous life. At the wife's behest, they agreed that they would not reveal the reasons for their split to their family members.

Ethical non-monogamy has been rising in recent years, with more and more people turning to multi-partner relationships. Searches for the term 'polyamory' have doubled since 2009, with searches for 'open relationship' increasing even more.

The father is now in a tight spot as his ex-wife is furious with him since the children no longer want anything to do with her after learning the truth. He has turned to the community to try and figure out if he was wrong for revealing everything that remained to their children.
