'Going back to work after the Holidays': 20 Post-Christmas Work Memes and Fails

You know that feeling when you have to work between Christmas and New Year's... well, we certainly know the feeling, and it's not a good one, to say the least. In fact, you feel like you're in this bizarre purgatorial state of limbo. You've just experienced a taste of what real rest looks like, and just as you're getting adjusted to that rest, you have to go back to before as if another brief moment of tranquility isn't about to come again. It's the opposite feeling of calm in between two storms. It's a storm in between two periods of calm. To put it bluntly: no one should have to deal with this, and yet, we push forward and we do because that's the way the cookie crumbles. So, without further ado, we've got some post-Holiday and post-Christmas work memes and fails to keep you entertained during this strange week of work. For more, check out these horrible Holiday gifts.

'Sorry, can’t meet up and help': Student gets petty revenge on partner for group project after she blew them off

Here is further proof that group projects are the worst! This thread, which was posted to Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit, just shows how pointless these "partner projects" are in the first place. If people want to actually believe that this is an exercise in teaching students about teamwork and collaboration, they are woefully misguided. What group projects teach us ultimately is that there are people who work and people who leech.

Thankfully, in this tale of petty revenge, the leech here got what she deserved. Still, because both partners received the same collective grade, that revenge came at some cost for the person who did all the work. Getting individual grades would have been true justice, but I guess we'll have to settle for this slacker confronting the fact that she was exposed for doing less than nothing. 'How Dare You Spend That Much Without My Permission?’ : Mega Rich Woman Buys Niece Ridiculous Christmas Gifts Amounting to 4K, Sparks Drama With Family

Family and holidays often mix together in a variety of ways. It isn't all fun and roses… You need to walk on eggshells, for the most part, as everyone has their own special set of triggers. For example, maybe you don't want to mention that you're majoring in art to Grandpa, who thinks anything besides finance is a waste of time (This generation knows nothing!). And maybe don't mention that you've been taking yoga classes (our back, guys) to your mother, who doesn't shy away from her brutal opinions about it (It's just a fancy way of stretching! Total waste of money). Perhaps don't broach the subject of inflation (or how much you pay for rent for that matter) with dad because he'll go ballistic.

Now, as if that weren't enough, you've also got a lot of thinking to do when buying Christmas gifts. Yeah, we're aware that Christmas is (finally) over, but some family drama ensues all the same. While scouring Reddit, I came across a post on r/AITA that I honestly can't really form an opinion about, regarding expensive gifts for family. I certainly can't afford to spend that ridiculous amount of money on myself, let alone anyone else, so maybe I'm not the person to ask… But opinions are flying all over the place in the comment section, so feel free to join and judge away.

‘Did You Block Me?’ : Best Dating App Fails of the Year 2022

Man… dating apps are both the best and worst thing that ever happened to the human species. On the one hand, we don't have to approach people in real life anymore. On the other hand… we can't approach people in real life anymore. It doesn't matter if you're looking for a FWB, a relationship, a situationship (as they call it nowadays), or a hookup. It's become less and more difficult at the same time.

Tinder promises good things to those who swipe, but we have yet to reap those fruits. The algorithm is literally against us. Let's say you get a match, begin a convo, and make a date. You either get ghosted, stood up, or the person you meet is crazy. Sometimes you hit gold (pun intended) but those instances are rare. Don't even get us started on FOMO.

The illusion that Tinder creates is an endless supply of hot, emotionally available people. But really, there is just an infinite amount of idiots. So, if you're failing miserably at this little thing called a 'dating app', these fails are for you. Also, feel free to check out these raging LinkedIn lunatics.

'This is a tale of tragedy, treachery, suspense, and triumph': Office security camera footage reveals dramatic secrets of a stolen lunch

Office drama is sometimes the only thing keeping people from spontaneously quitting their jobs and fleeing the workplace. The intriguing pettiness of workplace gossip is almost always passive aggressive, toxic, and downright ridiculous because your coworkers are people you spend literally ⅓ of your life with. Eight hours a day spent with people you passably tolerate is a recipe for some disastrous events. One man named Zak Toscani, a Twitter comedian and reporter of tea, recalls a story where workplace drama came to a head and some of his coworkers got put in their place. The mystery of the stolen shrimp fried rice got solved the second the office manager allowed everyone to weigh in and watch the security camera footage.

'[New boss] let me decide': Terrible boss loses $100M over their poor treatment of a former employee

You should always treat other people with dignity and respect; otherwise — well, they just won't like you very much. That's fine; not everyone needs to like you (and not everyone will), but when these people are also privy to your shady business dealings, and later go on to make decisions for other organizations as to whether or not that organization should be doing business with you, you shouldn't be surprised when they tell the other organization that they had better keep well clear.

Whether it's with renting or with jobs, there's a clear power dynamic at play; tenants and employees often need a reference from their landlord or employer to get another place to rent or work. So, often the renter or employee will put up with things that they shouldn't just to ensure the relationship stays positive in the point of view of the landlord/employer. Landlords and employers tend to forget — and would do well to remember — that while they don't need a reference from previous tenants or employees in order to bring in new ones, that doesn't mean that their reputation doesn't precede them.

Anyways, the point is, in this case, the way the employer acted cost them a big sale. Keep reading for this thread; for more,

'There are some good ones': Landlord REDUCES rent as a gift to tenants for the Holiday season

Whoever said landlords are all scum hasn't met this one! For some rare Holiday cheer on FAIL Blog, we gift you all with this surprisingly wholesome story about a landlord being a decent human.

This thread was shared on Reddit's r/LandlordLove subreddit by u/the_smollest_bee. While people in the comments section didn't necessarily have the same glowing reviews of their landlords, there was some nice sense of solidarity knowing that someone, anyone was shown mercy by theirs. In this instance, in the spirit of the Holiday season, this landlord decided to reduce his tenant's rent by $200. On a separate note, Redditors in the comments section could not resist dragging the tenant for having 574 missed text messages while also currently being on the phone with extremely low battery. This tenant sounds like chaos. Of all people to be lucky enough to have a nice landlord, why does it have to be this tenant?
