'[New boss] let me decide': Terrible boss loses $100M over their poor treatment of a former employee

You should always treat other people with dignity and respect; otherwise — well, they just won't like you very much. That's fine; not everyone needs to like you (and not everyone will), but when these people are also privy to your shady business dealings, and later go on to make decisions for other organizations as to whether or not that organization should be doing business with you, you shouldn't be surprised when they tell the other organization that they had better keep well clear.

Whether it's with renting or with jobs, there's a clear power dynamic at play; tenants and employees often need a reference from their landlord or employer to get another place to rent or work. So, often the renter or employee will put up with things that they shouldn't just to ensure the relationship stays positive in the point of view of the landlord/employer. Landlords and employers tend to forget — and would do well to remember — that while they don't need a reference from previous tenants or employees in order to bring in new ones, that doesn't mean that their reputation doesn't precede them.

Anyways, the point is, in this case, the way the employer acted cost them a big sale. Keep reading for this thread; for more,
