Gaming can be a great hobby; it can be exciting, relaxing, and really get your blood moving in those tense situations that get the adrenaline pumping. Still, it lends itself to being taken a little to seriously; competitive passion can often turn into nasty toxic behavior towards the people on the other side of the screen. Some gaming communities, particularly the ones that require large investments of time to develop the skill to play the game correctly and rely heavily on team cooperation, lend themselves to the worst sorts of toxic behavior. For that reason, MOBAs like League of Legends and DOTA2 have reputations in the gaming world for the poor behavior of their player base. The particular problem arises from the fact that a loss or victory in these games often stems from the performance (or lack thereof) of a single player on the team; couple this with the fact that a single game requires an uninterrupted investment of an hour of each player's time, and you have a recipe for some massive behavioral outbursts. This isn't like a Fortnite lobby where, when you die, you go back to the menu screen and can immediately start over. No, if you die and fall behind the other team, you're going to be stuck suffering for the next hour. It's even harder when this toxic behavior comes from someone you haven't randomly paired with in-game… But sometimes, their behavior presents the chance for some glorious malicious compliance—as it did here.
