This might be the first time that we've seen a story where someone has gotten engaged (or otherwise stolen the thunder of someone else's wedding) where we're going to have to side with the 'thunder stealer.'
The thing that usually creates the issue in these types of situations is that the person is using the gathering to take attention away from those who should be the center of attention and redirecting it towards their own entitled ass.
Here… Well, things are a little bit different. The couple discretely went off on their own to a quiet place at an appropriate moment during proceedings and privately got engaged. They didn't tell anyone. They didn't make any fuss. They didn't steal anyone's thunder. They didn't even post their news on social media until days afterward. So was there really any ethical wrongdoing here?
This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA subreddit by the Brother-In-Law, wondering if he was wrong for his discrete engagement to his girlfriend during his brother's wedding. His brother and his brother's bride are furious with him and claim they "ridiculed their wedding with their post."
