Talk about a quick and clever revenge. The husband put on a show like he had a big gambling addiction, to cover erasing everything they own, and ends up hiding the money in gold coins. He definitely planned the revenge well. Job well done.

She got all the furniture and pots and pans. He kept his secret hoard of gold coins. don't know for sure but l'm guessing it's at least $200k worth. Edit: tl;dr Wife cheats. He fakes a gambling addiction to cover up wiping out everything they own and hides the money in gold coins.
