This couple shared an apartment together until the girlfriend's grandmother got very sick and she decided to move in with her to be her caregiver. Her boyfriend refused to live with another roommate and therefore wouldn't take his girlfriend's name off the lease or let her stop paying her half of the rent.

He makes it sound like moving in with the grandmother rent-free is an easy and luxurious decision. No, sir. She's going to be taking care of someone while her health worsens. And while we sympathize with the fact that the two of them signed a lease with the intent of living there for the rest of the year, if he can't afford the full rent and refuses to live with a roommate, that is clearly his problem.
