Dadness is a quality that overtakes men of a certain age who have fathered children. The origin of dadness isn't entirely understood, but it is certainly universal. Dads do be dadding. Besides, there is perhaps a center of the male brain that gets triggered, driving dad-like behaviors and actions, like running in an airport or guarding the thermostat like everyone's lives depends on it. Maybe you're a dad and haven't been summoned yet, but oh, just you wait. One minute you're a dashing, athletic, young dad and the next minute your day is ruined when you scuff your New Balance sneakers, your rival neighbors throw a better barbecue than you did, and you fell asleep in the good chair in front of the game.
Face it, we'll all become our parents one day. We just didn't know that we'd have no choice in the matter. All it takes is for the dad gene to be triggered and you'll be sneezing loud enough to cause some permanent ear damage.
