A 20-year-old man got stuck on the same flight home with his ex-girlfriend after avoiding her while they were both on vacation in Paris. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AmItheA**hole subreddit by user u/Backup_276367383, who recounted his tale of a vacation gone wrong following a tough breakup.
The Redditor had saved his money to go on a month-plus long vacation in Europe, only to discover a few months prior that he and his ex would overlap in Paris on their respective trips. They made loose plans to grab drinks. You know, the kinds of plans you make when you run into a former co-worker on the street and say "we should get coffee sometime" before never exchanging any follow-up messages.
Well, by the time the Redditor arrived in Paris, he was hanging out with friends in a place with minimal service. Of course, when he checked his phone a couple of days later, he was bombarded with missed texts and calls from his ex, asking if he wanted to make plans and grab drinks. Out of fear, the man decided to ignore her messages because he "didn't want to deal with her getting angry and making me feel guilty like she did when we were dating."
Of course, matters were made worse when the two wound up on the same flight home. They shared an uncomfortable moment at the gate, in which the ex-girlfriend expressed that she could have been in serious trouble while he was ghosting her. However, as the Redditor explained, she wasn't in trouble. She just wanted to get drinks, and he clearly wasn't ready for that. Thankfully, they weren't seated next to one another on the plane.
