Why do all kitchen appliances have to look like they're from the future? Sure they have a "clean" look about them, but why should a refrigerator be designed to look like it can go fast? It's still a refrigerator.
There was a time when ovens were green and weighed like a thousand pounds. They weren't exactly energy efficient and they were a weird lime/avocado green or tan color. They all had coils that suspiciously matched a scar or two on our siblings, and our childhoods wouldn't be quite the same without them. After a few decades of these, most people figured they should get something shinier, but some still remain. If there's anything that looks like it's cooked some serious grandma meals, this is one of those.
One look at one of these things and it's easy to imagine the thousands of pot roasts that slid in and out of there. The countless fried eggs slopping around in delicious grease. The knives heated up for one reason or another. Cutting cold butter. Sure, that's it.
