We can't all be dads. There just aren't enough lawn mowers, polo shirts, terribly cut jeans and Bass Pro Shop hats in the world to go around. But we can all inhabit the spirit of dadlihood by engaging in absolutely awful puns during every awkward silence, car ride and funeral that we find ourselves present at. Dadness isn't necessarily a set of qualities, it's a state of mind. Sort of like attaining the state of Nirvana. The state of Nirvana being, of course, Washington state, where the band formed.
Of all the things dads contribute, some of the most memorable are slews of horribly wonderful puns in the form of devastating dad jokes. Yeah, they're kind of horrible but what sackful of puns isn't. It's best to take the decent ones with the godawful and just tip your hat to the great spirit of dads. "Our father," if you will.
