When he was faced with, what was certain to be, being forced into early retirement and the removal of his massive amount of leave. Jimmy instead decided to take all of his leave at once and use that time to look for another role.
It's hard to say what the new owners were thinking but it wouldn't be the first time that the new owners of a company had absolutely no idea what they were doing.
