What compels a news crew to do this bad a job of covering a haunted house? Maybe they ran out of time? Maybe they were all upset that they had to be there in the first place? Maybe the reporter doesn't know what feelings like "fear" or "joy" are and is just doing a poor recreation of those emotions she's heard about? Or maybe, just maybe, no one gave a single heck, and the voice really didn't help. The whole thing is just awkward, man.
