I guess father does not know best! In this scenario, at least, the father in question was objectively in the wrong here. This thread, which was posted to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit, shows how an unhinged dad completely misses the point and confuses his son's desire for independence with "selfishness."
The post was written by the 23-year-old son's mother, who decided to intervene and help her fully grown kid rent an apartment of his own so that he could get a job and live his own life. His father wanted him to stay so he could keep taking care of his disabled younger brother. Of course, we are sensitive to this difficult predicament, but the way the Dad went about this was just all kinds of crazy. He kept on rescinding his own son's job applications so that he wouldn't ever have a shot at getting out. Absolutely wild!
