'He stated berating me': Jerk neighbor breaks code, gets served bureaucratic justice by disgruntled government employee

There's an old saying that's continually relevant to customer service: The squeaky wheel gets the grease; it's true, more often than not, following up consistently with a service provider (and being generally bothersome) will net you a faster result than those who wait silently. Most people choose to do this by obnoxiously demanding service but obnoxious or not, it's always important to be polite. Being polite, maybe firm, when necessary, will always net you a better result than being a bellend.

This is especially true when dealing with government departments that are particularly prone to bureaucratic administrative inertia. Getting your knickers in a twist with a government pencil pusher will ensure that you're waiting eternally for a result, which can be especially problematic when said government worker already despises their working existence. Meanwhile, being on the better side of these government workers can net miracles of quick results and decisive action that was previously thought to be impossible for the department.

This is how it was in our story… When this good guy neighbor was saved from his jerk neighbor by a benevolent government employee... "He may have lost the neighbors' respect, but he gained — well, you will see whether he gained anything in the end."
