Update: Kitchen Drama, Conflict and Owner Abuse Leads to Resignation of FOH Lead and Chef

This chef shared the conflict in their restaurant that led to the resignation of the FOH lead and then the chef themselves. They shared their own resignation in a second "update" thread where they discussed that the conflict between them and the FOH lead, who had quit in the previous post, had put them in the owner's crosshairs. After a tense discussion between the two, the chef quit too.

This thread was posted in two parts to the r/KitchenConfidential subreddit by Reddit user u/PhoonTFDB, who shared their experiences in this kitchen. Often kitchen staff will take to this small subreddit to share these types of stories, hence the name "kitchen confidential."

It doesn't really sound like there is a victim in this thread; everyone kinda sounds like a bunch of a-holes duking it out to see who can be the biggest a-hole. But, from what I've heard, some kitchens are just like this, with everyone constantly battling it out to see who can be the top dog.

No matter who is in the wrong here this is clear: This is a toxic workplace. Regardless of who is purveying or causing this culture, that remains a fact.

Commenters had this to say about the thread

"'Don't talk back to me or I'll violate labor laws at you.' Is one of the most hilarious self-owns I've heard in a while." remarked user Saxong about the boss's challenge to the chef.

"Yeah sounds like everyone including you [is] an a-hole here," said user AuWolf19. To which the original poster commented and agreed.

Scroll on to see the threads, the update thread starts on item #8.
