These are the pettiest reasons that would cause someone to refuse to date a potential match, even if everything else about that person would otherwise be desirable. These ordinarily trifling traits, attributes, and mannerisms are an earth-shattering deal-breaker for these people.
I'd have to say that I think that the person who said that they couldn't handle loud open-mouthed chewing is the wisest here. I don't even think that's petty, but maybe that's because I can relate to it so well. I would add nail-biting and any mannerisms that involve any variety of teeth or mouth noises to that category too. I can not be in the same room with any noises involving teeth, which makes me a brilliant guest at dinner parties. The sound of teeth being brushed makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and I'm convinced it is the most brain-crushing noise on the planet. My partner, bless her, somehow manages to be the loudest chewer in existence. She's a real-life version of that episode from How I Met Your Mother where, no matter what Lilly eats, it makes a deafening noise. Eerily, the two look quite similar too. Are all small women loud chewers?
Somehow, this petty deal-breaker of mine failed to do its job… and now I'm eternally listening to a garbage disposal every time I eat my dinner.
I will say that it's worth it though.
