There's so much pomp and circumstance leading up to Christmas that the holiday is primed for disappointment. As kids, it was easy to get our hopes up about a new bike, only to see those same hopes plummet when we unwrapped a used copy of Ben Hur on VHS. Was there even a lesson here? Maybe "don't expect too much from your Aunt Carol." Either way, bad gifts are at least worth seeing how your loved ones will panic and compromise on giving a golf trophy to a 9 year old.
