Not sure what it is with the misbehaving in laws lately but I guess that some people just don't know how to behave like a rational human being, especially when they are receiving assistance at the good graces of others. Maybe the rise of 'pranking' for social media is the answer.
Probably best that she isn't in their lives, sounds like she's toxic to have around and influences the husband poorly.
