Um, Karen, the thing about instructions from the world's perfectly well meaning tech support professionals is that you need to actually follow the advice for your problem to be resolved. Pretending to follow the advice being given to you just isn't going to cut it. There's something to be said about the stubborn fortitude of the strikingly clueless individuals that also assume they know everything. They're so committed to being right when they're clearly wrong that it's near impossible to make any progress.
