It's very possible to be popular in high school without also being a huge douche, but those two things aren't always mutually exclusive. Sometimes a popular kid does something that they think they can get away with and it backfires like the dickens. Usually it's some horrible lie or evil thing they they tried, and realize too late that people won't always have their back. Besides that, it's after high school when people really change (or don't).
