Getting stuck in an elevator is a pretty common occurrence. Typically what happens is you let the staff know you're in there, and then some random dude shows up after a few minutes to calmly let you out. Maybe being in a different country freaked this family out to the point of hysteria, or maybe they've never seen an elevator before. Either way, the moment was a little more dramatic than it had to be.
