Manager Late For Web Meeting on Employee's Day Off, Witnesses Literal Inferno Via Zoom

This volunteer firefighter was threatened to be fired while attending a fire on their day off. Their boss called them while they were out attending a fire in the bush (Aus/NZ slang for a thick undergrowth forest with smaller trees and lots of plants at ground level) and demanded that they attend a virtual meeting in 10 minutes' time or they were fired. The manager was late for their own meeting and when they finally arrived they demanded that the firefighter turn their camera and mic on.

They were greeted with the blazing inferno of the fire that the firefighter was attending, with the firefighter fully suited up in all of their glory.

This story was posted by the firefighter, u/taipan821, to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit who shared this story in honor of their "malicious compliance" to their boss's direction to turn on their video and mic, knowing the drama that would unfold.

Crab Memes To Make The Most Out Of Carcinisation

Nature has a thing for crabs. It just can't get rid of them. Fossil records have shown us that stuff just won't stop evolving into the shelled, clawed bastards. Is it because the design itself is effective, or just because nature has decided that something should always be a crab? Whatever the reason, they look really weird, and taste pretty good. Especially for being a big wet sea bug.

What we wouldn't give to one day have a large, powerful claw to attract mates. It's dumb that we have to rely on having decent jobs and practice hygiene when we could be out here pinching stuff and taking names. Those names? Crab.

So hopefully one day we will all get to return to the sea by walking sideways. No thanks to you, fish who walked up on land in the first place. We're gonna have a good time being crabs.

Night Club Employee Gets Harassed By Customer, Has Security Kick Patron Out

Keeping your hands to yourself is a pretty general rule we all learn early in life, but some people — like the night club patron in this story from Reddit's r/pettyrevenge — apparently need to be reminded of that message as adults. Redditor u/NIMTYPE0 described a shift at their job at a nightclub in which a customer at the club decided to tug on his hair while he was working, collecting empty cups and generally keeping the club clean for customers. When the OP told the customer not to touch him, the customer just laughed — that is, until the employee got club security involved and told them to kick the rude guy out.

While security pulled the guy outside, our OP sounds like he was pretty shaken up from having someone actually touch them while at work, which we can all agree is a big no-no. When the OP passed the customer again later in the shift, the guy actually apologized, though with a weird claim that he was actually trying to shake OP's hand when he grabbed his hair. The head bouncer at the club eventually kicked this annoying customer and his friend out, sending a message that you absolutely cannot touch an employee while they are at work. For more tales of revenge that take place in bars, check out this bar owner who got revenge on a lazy bartender.

Woman Gets Cancer Diagnosis, Friends Shave Heads In Solidarity, Turns Out She Doesn't Need Chemo

With all the media around cancer treatment and chemotherapy, it's pretty easy to get an oversimplified impression of what a cancer diagnosis can mean. Fortunately for this woman, she had an operable form of stage 0 breast cancer, so the prognosis is looking pretty good. When she told her friends about it, she left out some important information, and left them to their own devices on the matter. Thinking their friend was going to go through the arduous process of chemotherapy, they all decided to shave their heads for their friend.

Who can really blame them for wanting to make their friend feel better? It's definitely in the right vein of what we'd appreciate our friends doing for us, though it is hilariously misguided. There hearts were in the right place, even if their hair isn't. Those are some supportive people, and we should all be so lucky to have friends like them.

Viral Image of Insane Sign Promises Customers a Bounty For Turning In Employees

This viral image has drawn the ire of the internet and has popped up in multiple locations over the last few hours since it was first posted.

The image was first posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by user u/fishshake, where Reddit's Admins quickly removed it for violating Reddit's terms of service and failing to redact personal information, including the name of the restaurant where the sign was allegedly posted and the email address of the owner. Despite the thread being deleted, it is still at the top of Reddit's r/all and has earned a whopping 52k upvotes.

The alleged restaurant is part of a chain of restaurants called "WifeSaver," which appears to have multiple locations throughout Georgia and North Carolina. However, it is unclear which specific location the sign was allegedly posted in.

This version of the image was posted to r/Facepalm with the owner's email address and the restaurant's name redacted. Reddit's admins have not removed this version of the image, and it is currently sitting at 10k upvotes.

Comments have been selected from these two threads and generally express outrage and disgust at the work environment that this sign telegraphs.

"This is a huge red flag not to work for them." commented u/Chocococolatte. While u/wdjm expressed their thoughts with the statement, "What a toxic work environment."

Nurse Asks Entitled Wife's Family To Leave While She Changes Husband's Catheter, Wife Thinks Nurse Is Wrong

Every day people are given a set of priorities to choose from. And every day people choose the wrong ones. Here we have a recently bedridden guy, and a nurse simply doing her job by advocating for his health and privacy. Meanwhile the wife is up in arms about who gets to see the poor dude when, and is trying to force everything to work around her own schedule.

Maybe she doesn't like that there's another authority in her home? It's a really strange shuffling of priorities that certainly isn't helping the whole situation. Let the record show that if your husband needs a tube to pee, and your biggest concern is that you think his nurse is being bossy, you just might be a huge piece of garbage. The internet did its thing.

For another impressively bad choice of priorities, here's the military wife who cancelled a sale because she thinks she shouldn't fraternize with wives from other branches.

Husband Insists His Mother is Present For the Birth of Child, Wife Doesn't Want Her There

This husband told his wife that he wanted his mother to be present for the birth of their child. When their first child was born her mother was present as support for her daughter. Now the husband thinks that since she "got to choose" who was present last time he should get to choose this time. His wife told him he was crazy and now he's upset, who is in the wrong here?

This thread was posted on Reddit's r/AITA subreddit by the wife,  u/GoldSun777, who is appealing to the readers to see who is being unreasonable in this couple's spat.

Overwhelmingly, as they often are when it comes to birth and pregnancy, the commenters of the subreddit are completely on the wife's side, pointing out that her comfort during the birth is paramount as she will be the one pushing a living being out of her body.

"When did squeezing a whole other person out of your vagina become a spectator sport?" commented SimplySam4210, adding some commentary to the apparent rise of husband's wanting everyone they know present when their wife gives birth.

"As a married man with 3 kids: NTA. The woman giving birth gets to decide who is in their delivery room, full stop," stated ITSlave4Decades.

Karen Freaks Out At Priest In Liquor Store, Gets Arrested

Priests are allowed to drink alcohol. Say it with us: priests are allowed to drink alcohol. This wild story about a priest who decided to pick up a few bottles of wine and a nice whiskey from a local liquor store comes to us via Redditor u/justme23222, who posted to r/IDontWorkHereLady after a woman grew belligerent when initially mistaking him for a liquor store employee. At first, the woman in question merely mistook this priest for someone who worked at the store, but when he explained to her that he was a priest, things got wild.

Apparently, the woman at the liquor store did not like seeing a priest in a liquor store and could not control herself, hurling insults, her purse, and even some of the bottles of wine available at the store at the OP and eventually at the store employee once he returned from the back. Things got bad enough that the employee was hit in the head with a bottle, leading to responding police officers to call for an ambulance. According to the OP, the woman involved in this scenario got off on community service, and nobody ever discovered why she reacted so wildly to encountering a priest at a liquor store.

Redditors Shared Their Smartest Jokes

As long as there are bars and guys walking into them, there will be someone willing to listen to someone tell a joke. Even in a world of smash cut edits, meme pages and terrifically weird tik toks, people still tell each other jokes in real life, and that's pretty cool. There's just something so timelessly compelling about them that we have no doubt analogue joke-telling will be around forever. We'll definitely need them when we're huddled around our small cookfires, using worthless life-president Jaden Smith 1 million dollar bills as fuel, boiling toilet water so we can face another day scuttling from the radiation bandits.

And while we are very dumb joke-oriented, that doesn't mean we're immune to the humor of "Descartes walks into a bar" jokes. They're just harder to come by than observations on whether or not yo momma can, in fact, sit around the house. So here are some people's favorites.

For some highly literal memes, here are funny moments and jokes that are technically not wrong.

Internet Irate, Mother Written-Up At Work For Attending Son's Emergency Surgery

This mother was written up for attending her son's emergency surgery, and the company she works for has drawn the ire of the internet. It all came to a head when her son notified her on a Friday that he was going in for surgery on his ACL the following Wednesday and would need someone to care for him. His mother wanted and needed to be that person.

She works as a dental hygienist and attempted to give the workplace notification of her need to take time off the following week. Her work refused to let her take leave and so she opted to take the time unpaid. That should have been the end of it, but when she returned to work she was given this disciplinary note.

The thread and image of the note was posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by the son, who is outraged on his mother's behalf.

Commenters are outraged as well and have been blasting the dentists office where she works and telling her to quit her job.

Military Wife Demands Salute According to Husband's Rank, Grunts Do As Commanded

This military wife commanded her husband's soldiers to salute her and the stickers on her vehicle, which led to a little tom-foolery from the soldiers who maliciously complied with their orders (as grunts are wont to do.)

As commenters have pointed out, what is it with the "Military Wife as an entire personality" stereotype? I suppose it's not an entirely unique phenomenon… people will build a personality around the darnedest things. Let's name a few, shall we?

Crossfit, Sports, Veganism, Career, Partner's Career, Fetishes, Fandom, Substances, Music, Gaming, Gym-Going (Do you even lift, bro?), Hobbies

There are undoubtedly some double-ups there, and you could distill them into specific categories or expound as much as you want to… but I'm not going to sit here and argue semantics. The point is that people build their personalities off of some weird doodads. I'm not specifically  trying to put Military Wives on blast here, so please don't flame this post ladies. The thing is, everyone does it during their adult life.

I'm not preaching from a pulpit here; I do it too. If you had known me from the ages of 16-21, you would have known me exclusively for the sport that I participated in. Hell, even now, I've just traded it in for a different sport and whatever "flavor of the month" hyperfixation I currently have.

We're all just a bunch of meatbags with electricity running through us, and we tend to get our circuits wired in particular ways. The tribalist part of us wants to identify with and as something to distinguish and differentiate ourselves from billions of other meatbag-batteries out there. Plus, there's a certain comfort to claiming a little slice of society as your "own."

Tangent over. Scroll on for the full story. This one is certified gold and my intro hasn't done it justice.

25 Signs That Shouldn't Be Trusted

Signs exist to give us direction, instruction, and sometimes even purpose. It's generally intended for them to be as concise and clear as possible to convey a compelling message.

These signs are none of those things. The only thing that these signs will direct you towards is complete and utter ruin as you try to decipher their bewildering intents. Imagine driving down the road and reading "Right lane must right left." What would you do? Some of you would probably go right and then left just as the sign requested and end up in the ditch on the side of the road. I mean there's always someone, just take a look at the people that drive their cars into lakes while following their GPS.

This collection was originally posted to Imgur by user OtisandStella and that image gallery has received 105k views since it was first posted.

What's the most ridiculous sign you've ever witnessed?

For more ridiculous signs like this check out this restaurant sign that provided a wealth of enduring jokes and insight to viewers.

40 of the Biggest Turnoffs People Experience

Some things give people the "ick." Sometimes there's a good reason for it, and sometimes, it's just a particular quirk that someone inexplicably hates. Me? I can not abide the cacophony of a loud chewer. It doesn't even have to be open-mouthed; my personal circle of hell would be people chewing food in a quiet room. I've found that playing music over dinner when you have loud-mouthed (literally) guests over is a brilliant solution to this. If you're over at my place and I put music on during dinner, don't take it personally… I was totally going to put in on anyways. I swear.

The good people of Reddit have gathered 'round to share their biggest turnoffs and the collective contribution of the readers has made what turned out to be a pretty handy guide.

So browse on through and you might learn a thing or two that you do that makes people go ew.

One thing is for certain… If you are a good listener, have good hygiene, and have good breath… you're already halfway there.

Firefighter Gets Dragged Into Mandatory Work Meeting During Off Hours, Calls In From Active Fire

Like toddlers, managers often lack the cognitive capacity to imagine their employees doing anything with their lives other than working. Especially when they're not on the clock. Some will become surprised and angry when you tell them that you have hobbies, or do things like sleep.

This manager didn't seem to understand what "I'm busy" means, so this dude decided to show them what it meant to him. Which probably looked just a little bit like hell on earth. And it seems like this went a long way in communicating his current availability.

Meaningless mandatory work meetings are a drag. Meaningless mandatory work meetings that are scheduled during your time off are just stupid and disrespectful. And meaningless mandatory work meetings scheduled during your time off while you are actively participating in a hazard reduction burn, then being told you will be fired if you do not attend, result in stories like this.

The Instant People Knew Their Relationship Was Over

Sartre said "hell is other people." And while he was mostly talking about the existential dread of constantly feeling judged by others, the quote is pretty easily applicable to being in a relationship with someone you hate.

There's seldom a good reason to stay in a relationship when you dread the person you're with, but it can be difficult to come to that realization. Given that challenge, sometimes our feelings or circumstances come to a head, and that realization is all but made for us. Particularly when you find them in bed with your boss. Under most circumstances, that's a pretty good indicator that things aren't exactly gonna work out.

But hey, even though breakups suck, they're generally good in the long run. Why spend time with other people who make your life hell?

To learn from some other people's mistakes, here are 30 unfortunate souls who shared the reason they forgave their cheating partner.

Woman Publicly Embarasses Would-Be Scamming Mechanic

Much like people assuming they won't be overheard speaking rudely about someone else in another language, a common assumption some people make are that car owners don't often know enough about their vehicle to have an understanding of what their mechanics do to it. As a result, sometimes a mechanic tries to charge a car owner more than they should to make a little extra cash — until they run into someone prepared to call them out. Redditor u/drunken-black-sheep took to the popular subreddit r/pettyrevenge to talk about this run-in with a mechanic who tried to scam her by claiming her car needed several repairs immediately, including a new air filter. OP specifically mentions that she had checked the air filter before going to the shop that day, so she knew something was off — especially when the mechanic tired to get her to pay $1500 for all these "repairs."

Fortunately for OP, she seems pretty knowledgeable about cars and working with them, so she bought herself some time and arranged to call her dad, who must also be a big car guy, and pretend to ask her dad for help paying for the expenses. What unfolded sounds like an all-time great acting performance: both the OP and her dad on the phone started laughing hysterically at the mechanic and then watched him like a hawk to make sure he didn't do anything wacky to the car during the routine oil change she had actually gone for.

Technically Accurate Memes And Jokes That Are Basically Not Wrong

Thanks to the scientific method, and the very nature of empirical evidence within the observable universe and all that jazz, we can never be too sure if an assertion is completely, totally accurate exactly all of the time. But one thing that we can do, being clever devils, is use our terrific capacity for wit and make statements that are basically, pretty much technically correct. It's gotten us out of quite a few jams, and it's pretty funny.

Does this kind of activity actually give us a greater understanding of the world around us? No. But it does give us a greater sense of control, which is sometimes all you can ask for in this chaotic universe. Being clever shouldn't make us feel nearly as good about ourselves as it does, but it totally does. It makes us feel so good about ourselves so hard.

Here are some more technically correct memes that are definitely not wrong.

Trashy Neighbor Throws Garbage In Neighbor's Yard, Gets Unexpectedly Evicted

This trashy neighbor got more than she bargained for when she started teaching her child to throw their trash into the neighbor's lawn. Redditor u/donut_clouds took to r/ProRevenge to tell this interesting tale, detailing a situation in which his frustrating neighbor and her child started throwing their trash into the OP's lawn rather than bag it up appropriately and leave it for their town's garbage collection. The littering continued even after OP wrote that they asked them to stop, and police said they couldn't do much about it since they couldn't prove that the neighbor's child was told to do this. The OP found a highly creative path toward revenge here, though: they contacted the neighbor's landlord and bought the property out from underneath them, serving the trashy neighbor with an eviction notice out of nowhere. Now, OP has no neighbor and appears to plan to increase the size of their yard using the property they just evicted this local villain from.

It just goes to show that being a friendly neighbor can go a long way — especially if your neighbor has enough extra cash on hand to buy you out of your home when you're being a jerk. OP even dropped the amount they paid for the  property in the post, sparking a conversation about property values around the world in the comments.

Top 30 ADHD Memes For People Who Probably Didn't Finish Reading This Sentence

This gathering was put together by Imgur user unwanted10 and, as a fellow ADHD-er, I found these to be all-too-relatable and had to share.

I always find it hard to focus during the hours that I'm meant to be focusing, yet when it comes time to go to bed suddenly everything becomes a candidate for hyper-fixation, so I often find myself having to manage this propensity to procrastinate. Heck, I'm procrastinating right now by preparing this list instead of looking at our weekly metrics.

It's all too often that I find myself up way too late, freshly armed with some kind of useless knowledge that has been the result of the latest hyper-fixation. I might be severely lacking sleep at the moment but if you'd like I could recount to you a step-by-step analysis of how the Greco-Persian Battle of Salamis played out.

Maybe we'll save that for another time. For now, enjoy this collection of ADHD memes.

People Share Their Weirdest Yet Strangely Effective Advice

If there's one thing that helps us get through life, it's each other. That is, when we're not actively hindering each other's progress. But still, learning from other people's mistakes is a terrific way to bypass making a lot of your own mistakes, because honestly, who has the time to make every single mistake for yourself when you could literally just ask someone.

Maybe the issue with advice is that we always feel like it has to "sound like advice." And that's a disservice to advice. A lot of terrific advice sounds over simplistic, stupid and weird.

Good advice doesn't necessarily have to sound profound. The mark of good advice isn't its profundity, but simply it's rate of success. And if telling yourself "no one cares about me it all" is what gets you to work every morning, that is some inarguably good advice.

But for some inarguably bad advice, here is some of the worst advice people have ever received.

Online Debate Erupts Over Absurd Package Delivery Failure

Internet users are seeking to answer the question as to whether or not this delivery is an attempted delivery or a completed delivery. Did the delivery driver successfully deliver this package? Or is this attempt a miserable failure?

There seems to be a solid divide in perspectives here. Some argue that the delivery person did their job to perfection, while others have made quips about how poor a job the deliverer has done; others still bridge the gap with comments like "Task failed successfully."

The thread was posted to r/therewasanattempt as clearly there was an attempt made here. Usually, the subreddit is used to post gifs, videos, and images of attempts at things that didn't quite go the way they were intended. Part of the argument would decide whether or not this image should have even been posted there in the first place.

What's your take? Failed attempt or genius solution?

Terrifically Trashtacular Moments That Escaped From The Dump

A great many things can drive people to become their trashiest selves. Sometimes it's a moment of weakness. Perhaps a combination of inebriation and a flash of unbridled selfishness. At times, neglect. And at other times, necessity. How else are you going to acquire your neighbor's doormat? It's just sitting outside their house and it's not like it's nailed down. And the result is some wild trashiness that's impossible to not look at. It's almost beautiful. Almost.

We try to live our lives ignoring or out-witting our most basic instincts. But sometimes they're simply unavoidable. Sometimes you take a big long look at your 1993 Toyota Tercel and you think "man, what this baby really needs is a wrap of slobbering, cross-eyed anime girls" and it's just impossible to resist.

Here are some entitled people who made everyone's day worse, as well as some of the most terrifically trashy weddings people have been to.

Karen Boss Insists Nanny Is Selfish For Taking Time Off To Attend Sister's Wedding

It's always interesting to learn how your employer values your time. All of a sudden they need you, and they go on a spiel about how you're a bad person for taking time off to do something that they knew about months ago. They'll try to make it your fault that they didn't prepare for your extremely planned absence. In this case, the boss lady went as far as to say this nanny would be "abandoning her children" if she took time off to go to her own sister's wedding.

But honestly, these just sound like the mad ravings of a person who is clawing for any shred of "not-my-fault" after completely failing to plan accordingly. They're Karen's kids. If she doesn't want to watch them on a given weekend, then she is the one abandoning them. And trying to put that evil on the person who just watches her kids for money is not only wrong and mean, it's also just stupid.

For another fun one, here's the power-tripping boss who reminded an employee that she could quit at any time, so she did.

Bad Grandma Banned For Weight-Shaming Ten-Year-Old

This Grandmother was banned from seeing her grandkids after the child's father discovered she had been shaming their ten-year-old about her weight.

The thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit by the father, u/Superduppppy.

We were recently discussing the "benevolent grandparent" and how it's easy, for those who were fortunate to have them, to assume that that's just how all grandparents are. It's always saddening to see stories such as this, where a grandchild is being traumatized by their grandparent, who is not acting at all like a benevolent figure.

My American grandparents were the quintessential American grandparents. It was almost like they had been dropped out of an 80s kid's film. Summers at the lake, fireworks on the 4th, Grandpa dressing up as (a very authentic) Santa Claus for Christmas. All memories that I get to carry with me for the rest of my life. I am fortunate that I have such memories and didn't experience anything like this story from any of my grandparents.

Husband Cries When Wife Plans Pregnancy Surprise

When this wife discovered she was pregnant, she devised a plot to surprise her husband (who was yet unaware) with the news. Little did she know… Her husband had discovered the hidden pregnancy test by accident and assumed the worst, aided by some deep-seated trauma.

It takes a lot to bring a man to tears in a public restroom… It's something we tend to try to avoid, so hats off to this wife for achieving something quite extraordinary anyways.

It seems that, more often than not, these types of surprises always go awry… If stories on the internet are anything to go off, that is. It's incredibly likely that there is a significant selection bias happening here as we're seldom going to see stories of something doing well trend online. We enjoy feeding off of the mundane suffering of others far too much to watch them succeed.

Utility Company Takes on Wrong Avocado Farmer After Causing Fire, Loses Out Big

An avocado farmer scored big time when a utility company's downed line set fire to his crop. He was completely fine with moving on with the matter and contacted the company to see if they could help replace the fence that was destroyed… to the tune of $10K. They denied all responsibility for the issue and told him to sue. So sue he did. If only they had just paid what he was initially asking, these idiots would have saved themselves a lot of grief… and a lot of coin too.

This thread was posted Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by a family member of the farmer, Redditor u/SomeoneYouDontKnow70. In this thread, they recount the tale of their brother-in-law's experience growing avocados in California. They report that, while they don't know exactly how much their brother-in-law made out with, it was well worth his sister and brother-in-law's time.

When will these big corporations learn to own up for their mistakes? It would only save them money in the long run.

Uncomfortable, Weird And Dumb Moments Of DIY Construction

Building a house seems simple until you realize how easy it is for something to go wrong. "It's just four walls, a few pipes and a couple toilets, how hard can it be" is the first step to living in a death trap of your own making. The corners people are willing to cut can result in some extremely unaesthetic living conditions. For example, why do people invariably decide that the best place for an electrical outlet should be in a bathtub?

For every right way to do things, there are at least a hundred ways to do it wrong. And as much as we'd like to try sitting on a toilet that's conveniently raised six feet in the air, it's probably sort of uncomfortable. Though it likely does make one feel like a lord to be able to survey their land while dropping a grumpy.

Here are some perilously uncomfortable rooms with all bad vibes.

Service Industry Memes To Get The Most Out Of Working For Ungrateful People

Customers are an interesting breed. They seem to simultaneously not know what they want and have almost no means of asking for it, but at the same time, are willing to get abusive when they are given exactly what they asked for. A lot of the time, people like this just need an outlet to blame for their own miserable lives, but most of us would have at least a double shot of regret having just screamed at a barista for getting our order right.

But lo and behold, if you're wearing a monochrome shirt with a logo on it, you have officially been designated a non-person in the eyes of the customer, and not only are you deserving of abuse, but you somehow crave it. They think being screamed at is the only way you'll ever learn that a latte is just what they personally like to call a macchiato, so when they order a latte, that's what they mean. You idiot.

Here are some more retail memes.

Manager Told to Cut Hours to Impossible Amount, "Cuts" Their Own Hours When They Walk Out

This manager found their workload increased dramatically when their co-manager was fired for a ridiculous reason. They then found themselves having to operate the entire store, which was rife with unique issues. The boss continued to be pettier and pettier. When they finally hired a replacement co-manager they expected the manager to "cut their hours" immediately. Which led to the titular confrontation.

This thread was posted to r/MaliciousCompliance by the manager in the story, Redditor u/A-Stackhouse. When they found themselves in this tricky situation they knew exactly what they had to do… Comply maliciously.

Nobody likes a boss who justifies their own position by finding needlessly petty things to harass you about. Often they are doing so because they are being harassed by their superior as well and the only solution they can find is to pass the buck down the line. After all, as the old saying goes, sh*t flows downhill…

Guy Hooks Up With Dead Brother's Fiancée, Family Loses It, He Demands Apology

This is one of those rare moments that I can't entirely agree with the hive mind of Reddit.

Reddit seems to predominately think that the OP's relationship with his dead brother's fiancée is all sunshine and rainbows… But I can see where the family would find the entire situation to be deeply problematic and I can, thus, see where the family is coming from. Have they reacted to the situation maturely and reasonably? Absolutely not.

So, while there's a reasonable foundation for them taking issue… there's no excusing their behavior either. I can't help with agree with the minority of Redditors that "Everyone Sucks Here" ESH.

I've learned one thing from this post, and that's just how real of a thing "Trauma Bonding" is. I had just assumed that it was something that was used for soapy romance plots but I suppose cliches are cliches for a reason.

What's your take on this complicated issue?

Top Tinder Moments of the Week (April 26 2022)

Welcome to online dating! It's a wild world where you can say and do as you please, and not a lot of it means (or leads to) much of anything. This facade is just an elaborate, membrane-thin distraction from just how vulnerable and alone the delicate dance of courtship makes us feel. While the establishment of the internet may have opened the doors to an entire ocean of fish… You're still just a drop in the bucket and that's a daunting realization. Three photos and a witty tagline will determine whether or not the spouse (or hookup?) of your dreams lets you into their dm's or swipes you left into oblivion.

This week's contestants include a range of angry individuals who are incredibly particular about the way that they are greeted. We've also got the Special Forces deployed and they're running operations to vet "worthy" individuals for their friend (That's a bold move.). You've got the usual jokers, hecklers, thrill-seekers, and those men and women that are maybe just a little too thirsty to be trusted.

Desperation, I suppose, can be a sizeable fan for the flames of love.

People Share Times They Attended A Ruined Wedding

Everyone has their own definition of a "ruined wedding" but it generally falls into two camps. The first being "not perfect." Like maybe the DJ was five minutes late or the chairs were sort of uncomfortable. But then there's another kind, which should probably be referred to as "actually ruined." That's when an aunt falls through the floor trying to do the chicken dance, the bride gets showered in sewage, and the groom runs off because he's wanted for bank robbery.

With any luck, we can only hope to attend mostly "not perfect" weddings in our lives, because the alternative is something that you never forget. And not in like a cool fun way. No one wants to go through the arduous mental challenge of figuring out how to politely word "can I get my gift back? It seems like they don't need an instant pot anymore."

For more wedding stories, here are the most terrifically trashy weddings people have attended.

Irate Mother Stands Up For Daughter When Teacher Turns Her Harrassment Into "Lesson"

I'm willing to believe that this teacher didn't understand the full context of the situation. When you're constantly handling and overseeing the disagreements of 30+ students it's easy for the antagonists and antagonized to all blur together into a milkshake of "He said, She said" statements. With that context and understanding in mind, it becomes fitting to apply the generalized "lessons" to the entire involved group. From the teacher's perspective, how do you even know that one particular student is telling the truth? How does this mother know that her daughter hasn't stretched the truth? Besides, even if you are aware that there is a behavioral issue… in most schools, you aren't allowed to do anything about it anyways. Schools in many western countries have done away with any and every sort of punishment entirely (including detention) so all that's left is generalized lessons.

Despite strong stances on bullying, these toothless approaches don't do much to protect students who actually find themselves receiving unwanted attention. So, if this daughter is telling the truth then the mother is totally right for taking action… If not… She comes across as a bit of an a-hole towards the teacher here.

Food Service Worker Fired For Refusing to Come in to Work While Sick, Had Doctor's Note

This fast-food worker sent their sick note to their boss to let them know that they would not be at work that day. To their surprise their boss texted them back, telling them that they needed to find someone to cover their shift or still work it themselves.

The text exchange was posted to Reddit by the employee, Redditor u/spr_t, to the r/antiwork and r/OSHA subreddits, which both handle topics where workers are having issues with their employers. The employee posted the topic with the title, "I lost my job of 3 years because of this."

They gave some context and updates in the various comment sections. They explain that they worked for a franchise owner of a restaurant located in Texas where they had worked for three years. After this text exchange, they were fired and the employer said that they were "Counting it as quitting since [they] didn't show up." Commenters responded to these statements that, since they are located in Texas, their rights and avenues for restitution are extremely limited.

Commenters, of course, have condemned the deplorable actions of the employer. Especially when you work in food service and are handling other people's food… The last thing you should be doing is coming to work sick and spreading it to others. Haven't the last two years taught us anything?

History And Mythology Memes That Still Aren't A Great Substitute For Reading

In order to know what's going on, it's important to have a greater contextual understanding of the world before we were living in it. Every social precedent we set for ourselves is built on something that came before, and learning about history can broaden your horizons and set you on a more complete path to self-actualization. But that's if you really sit down and read about history. What this is is a whole lot of references to Henry VIII, the weirdness of the Romans, and a whole ton of junk pertaining to Greek mythology to boot.

So if you weren't paying attention in 7th grade history, you might be at a loss here. And if you love history and read it all the time, you're probably going to "well actually" yourself into a hole. But for most of us who can read but don't like to, these kinds of history memes for the ages are a nice mix of stupid junk, and references that make us feel smart to get.

History, it's a good time.

New Principal Tells Teacher To Quit Second Job, Quits Teaching Job

We've all had moments where we've been told some version of "why aren't you my first priority" by people who don't think the same of us in the first place. It's not like continuing to stick your neck out for someone who wants to take advantage of you scores you any morality points anyway. So the right thing to do is often to kindly tell them to go drop a bag of bowling balls on their mom.

Logic would dictate that if you're not getting paid enough at your main job, and your new boss tells you that you need to quit your second job, it might behoove you to just look for a new main job entirely. This algebra teacher did the math and figured it would be a better idea to just look for a new one entirely

For another tale of school justice, here's a targeted teacher who got their manipulative principal fired.

Not My Job Moments Of Unprofessional Absurdity

We are creatures of great focus. Meaning, we can only be asked to do one thing at a time. If they say "paint lines on the road" by god we'll paint those lines. But nobody said anything about painting those lines well. Or straight. But at the end of the day, you can bet your bottom dollar that those lines will be painted. They might look like varicose veins, and it's quite possible that they'll even be running over some roadkill, but the lines will be there. Anything else is presumably someone else's job.

So partake with us in this journey to do the bare minimum. Just enough to keep yourself employed, but not enough to be considered respectable or even really all that competent. Life is about balance. The balance between "total garbage" and "barely acceptable."

It's a race to the bottom, and that's the only thing we've ever excelled at.

Incompetent Boss Reprimands Top Employee For Working Too Hard, Employee Quits, Boss Doesn't Know What to Do

Imagine having such a delicate ego that you need to exercise your power needlessly over your subordinates in order to maintain some semblance of authority. If you have that picture in your head then you know exactly what this employee was dealing with when they were reprimanded by their boss for working too hard and told to take "time management classes."

This thread was posted to r/MaliciousCompliance by the employee, Redditor u/asianclooney. They posted their story to the popular subreddit because the story concludes with their "malicious compliance" of "thinking about it" and deciding to quit on the spot. Maybe not the greatest example of malicious compliance but the story itself was solid so we felt it worth sharing.

Sometimes, someone just has it out for you for some reason… and there isn't much you can do about it. Realizing that not everyone you meet is going to like you is a tough but important pill to swallow. The sooner you learn to accept that the less energy, stress, and time you'll spend trying to win that person over and you will be able to move on with your life. It's a little harder to do this when that person is your boss… But the same principle applies, pack up, find a new job, and make your life easier for yourself. Exactly as this employee has done.

Survival Myths That Could Be More Deadly To Follow Than Not

After a few decades of just packing our noggins with reality TV and hearsay, it's easy to find ourselves subscribing to nature survival myths that simply aren't true, and could get us killed. Watching Bear Grylls squeeze elephant dung into his mouth for water probably did a lot more harm than good for our collective understanding of survival situations, but hey, at least we got to watch a millionaire drink freshly squeezed poop juice.

And it's a little bit our own fault for believing the wrong stuff. We probably hold on to unconfirmed survival facts for too long. It's extremely possible that you believe something because your friend's older brother told some total BS in 3rd grade and you just internalized it without googling it. So every once in a while it's good to do a bit of an audit and see how much you don't know about basic survival.

But honestly, if it wasn't obvious before; don't drink the dung.

Parents Disown Child, Contact Now-Adult Child Years Later Asking For Money

This daughter was disowned by her parents when she was in her late teens for choosing to attend a non-religious university, then subsequently taking up a job as a stripper to support herself when her parents initially withdrew financial support. Now, years later, she is a fully functional and self-sufficient adult and her aging parents have come to her with their health and financial issues asking her for her support. What do you do in a situation like this? What is the best thing and what is the right thing to do?

This thread was posted by the daughter to Reddit's AITA subreddit (Am I the A--Hole) with the title "AITA for refusing to help my parents even if they end up homeless with serious medical conditions?" She posted the topic after initially rebuffing her parent's requests for support and is eager to see whether or not her decision was the right and ethical one.

Commenters have supported her decision, pointing out that she was not the one who chose to abruptly end the relationship in the first place. At least one commenter has quoted the biblical lesson of "You reap what you sow." in response to her parents now having to deal with the consequences of their actions.

Should she choose to support her parents she should do so with caution and would be offering them far more than they ever deserved.

Company Asks Employee For Help a Month After Laying Them Off

This situation plays out exactly like having your partner break up with you and then hit you up for a booty call a few weeks later. The emotions involved are incredibly similar. There's that same sense of drifting hopelessness that comes after being broken up, which then collides with the emotionally befuddling rage and turmoil of being asked to come back and provide an essential… service. True, one is arguably more enjoyable than the other in more than one way… but both still end in disappointment.

The best thing to do with an ex, both lover and employer, is to cut off all contact and move on with your life, giving them not an inch more.

That's exactly what this employee, Redditor u/thefarmerdan decided to do when they were contacted by their ex-employer's HR department a month after being laid off. They were initially enraged at being contacted and let it ruin their day before becoming resolved to block the number that had reached out to them.

They posted this topic to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit after receiving contact from their ex-employer. Commenters were quick to condemn the employer for their actions.

Entitled People Who Made Everyone's Day Worse

We all know someone like this. A coworker, a neighbor, a family member. Someone who will text you in the middle of the night demanding that they be taken to the airport. A person who will steal fries off of your plate and then get angry at you for not having ordered enough fries. Someone who will arrive at a crafts store 10 minutes after closing time and bang on the windows to be let in. And then when they are invariably left outside, they'll write a strongly worded yelp review full of lies about how they were treated like dirt by the store.

There's not much we can do when we encounter people like this. It seems like the best option is just to let them yell and scream and run around in circles. At least it's sort of fun to watch.

Here are some more entitled people and their fantastically bold moves.

Parenting Tweets For The Ones Out There Doing Their Best

The wild thing about parenting is that they just give you a baby to take home and you have to wing it from there. Every first attempt at parenting is still happening to a real live human being. A human being that you have to mold from the depths of being worse than an animal all the way up to becoming an upstanding and decent person. And it's a long road. Kids are pretty stupid, but they also have an incredible skill for learning your worst habits. So be prepared to have a mirror pushed up to your face as you inadvertently teach your kids everything you got wrong about life.

Every day as a parent could be the day that you create a serial killer or politician. The stakes are pretty high. And remember, if you parent wrong enough, your kid could end up working in internet culture media. So make sure they're good at math or something.

For some more funny tweets about parenting, here are some parenting memes for those whose lives are over.

Terrible Maid of Honor Drops Out of Friend's Wedding When Brother Reveals His Secret Love

This Maid of Honor decided to drop out of her best friend's wedding at the last minute after the Maid of Honor's brother revealed that he had been secretly in love with her friend for years. Her friend and her brother had had a fling six years prior, just before her friend had met her now-fiancé. The brother never got over being dumped by the friend and his revelation has caused his sister to betray her friend of twelve years.

This thread was posted to r/AITA (Am I the A--Hole) by the Maid of Honor who has dropped out of the wedding. She has posted the thread to gauge from readers whether or not she was in the wrong for dropping out of her friend's wedding on her brother's wishes.

Commenters have overwhelmingly voiced their distaste for her actions, calling her out for betraying her friend after allowing herself to be manipulated by her jealous brother.

Art History Memes To Pontificate Upon And Guffaw At Heartily

If there's one thing we know about art, it's that it took like, a thousand years for artists to figure out how to draw horses properly. Seriously, check out the crap medieval artists were throwing together. They look like they were drawn by dysentery-ridden, near-sighted mooks. And they probably were, but that's no excuse to draw horses that look like busses covered in legs.

Anyway, one of the fun things about classical art is that it did a pretty good job of conveying people's emotions at pivotal moments, and it just so happens that that kind of affectation makes pretty excellent memes. Throw in a few kronen-burg-esque depictions of hell, some extremely stupid haircuts that we're certain couldn't have been popular at the time, and you've got yourself a recipe for some extremely accurate, if also terrifically weird memes.

For more of it, here are art history memes for the highly cultured among us.

Graphic Designer Receives Scathing Email From Ex-Boss When She Quits on First Day After Being Told to Steal Art

Sometimes you miss glaringly obvious red flags during the interview process. Sometimes the interviewer is entirely dishonest about what you can expect to find in your new role. Then, once you start working, you are suddenly faced with the horrifying reality of what you just signed on for. The best thing to do at this point is to walk away and not fall into the losing game that is the "sunk cost fallacy." If you're getting that feeling in your stomach that early on then you will be doing everyone a favor by deciding to do so.

That's exactly what the graphic designer decided to do when she was lied to during the interview process. When she arrived on her first day she realized that the company actually had none of the high-profile clients they had bragged about and was informed that she would also be working for the business owner's "side-hustle" stealing small artist's work to place on t-shirts.

That's when the graphic artist, Redditor u/OminousAvocado, realized that she needed to walk away. Despite being lied to, she sent a very respectful email to her new boss telling him that she was resigning and his response "reaffirmed" all of her doubts and her decision to leave.

The internet has been overwhelmingly on her side and panning the boss for his unprofessional response.

u/OminousAvocado gave further clarification to the situation in a comment which we have included in item #2 the responses to that comments are items #3 and #4 and then the emails and the rest of the comments follow.
