'4K and 800 is a big difference': Jealous brother erupts at parents for spending more money on their daughter's gifts

As it turns out, we're still experiencing the fallout from the Holidays. We're not talking about breaking New Year's resolutions or getting adjusted to returning to work, though. No, we're talking exclusively about family drama. Specifically, family drama as it relates to Holiday gifts.

In this thread, which was posted to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit by u/JollyOldSaintNicki, a 22-year-old son living with his parents voiced his frustration after his older sister was gifted $4,000 following her recent purchase of a house. Meanwhile, the son's gifts amounted to $800. Sure, perhaps the parents could have been more careful with this and presented the $4K gift as a housewarming present rather than her Christmas gift, but is this a choosing beggar situation for the son? The gift disparity is certainly significant, but it's not like $800 is nothing…not to mention, this is a guy who has been living with his parents rent-free. Folks in the comments section seem pretty split on the issue. Keep scrolling below to see what they had to say. Funniest Memes for Chill People Who Prefer Vacation Time Over The Grind

Motivational speakers like Eddie V have made their fortunes and their professional coaching empires from the ground up, preaching a principal that has taken over the minds and thoughts of middle class ladder-climbers for decades: The Grind. For some reason, people are obsessed with working themselves into the ground and trading their general well-being for a couple thousand more dollars. Nice trade buddy. What're you going to spend that money on? Probably therapy when the plan your overinflated ego created falls apart completely, reminding you that work is actually not the most important thing in your life.

If you're not living the hustle lifestyle, some might call you lazy. But to be totally honest, you've just stopped to smell the roses, taking in the beauty that is life without work. You're the type that works to live, versus the Hustlers who live to work. BRB, I just baked a pie and I'm going to eat a slice on my porch while basking in the sun. Now that's living.

Update: Entitled 'crypto bro' brother demands free catering for his wedding after squandering a small fortune of inheritance

Some people have more money than common sense, and some people have so little common sense that they lose all of their money. Imagine being born on third base and getting caught out trying to steal second; that's the level of competency we're talking about in this thread.

This Reddit user describes the situation at hand: Their entitled brother has decided that he wants to get married after squandering his inheritance on bad crypto investments. Because he's never had to work for anything himself and never experienced consequences for his actions, he expects his sister to cater the wedding to the tune of thousands of dollars in food — all for free.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. The original poster returned to add an update to their original post detailing what had happened since the initial posting. Turns out the brother had been "borrowing" all kinds of money from other family members, resulting in him being cut off by the family.

'He's a Nepo Baby': Son of successful entrepreneur gets defensive over awkward family dinner

This Holiday season, it seems that families were arguing about nepotism. In case you live under a rock, the viral New York Magazine cover focused on the successful children of celebrities in Hollywood and the systemic flaws within this system. Obviously, Hollywood is not the only institution where nepotism can play a factor in someone's success or lack thereof, and so as it turns out, people can get pretty testy about the topic.

With this story, which was posted via this thread on Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit by u/Legacy-Ad8754, it turns out the Redditor works for his father's business. When the entire extended family gathered for New Years, his brother-in-law's wife made a potentially insensitive remark about how she wanted to see the Redditor's take on the article. Since he feels that his situation is wildly different from that of actors and actresses in Hollywood, he found the comparison to be empty and refused to explore the conversation further.

Yet herein lies the issue, my friends. Sure, it might have been a bit much to put a nepo baby in the hot seat at a family dinner. However, if the Redditor truly felt like his experience was different from that of celebrities, why did he get so incredibly defensive? No one is saying that nepo babies don't have talent or skills that have earned them work. It's not just a question of ability, though. It's a question of opportunity. On that note, if nepo babies continue to remain so defensive that no one can discuss the topic broadly (yes, we're talking about you, Kate Hudson and Jamie Lee Curtis), then the subject will continue to be insufficiently unpacked and the nepo babies themselves will come across as, well, insecure and/or blind. In other words, ignoring the topic entirely is a lose-lose for both parties. What do you think about discussing nepotism at the dinner table?
