Terrifically Absurd Lies People Believed As Kids

Why did our parents and siblings lie to us so much? Right now, there are parents telling their kids that if they touch the wrong button in a car, the whole thing will explode. Kids are being told that "the soda that dad drinks" is a magic elixir that makes you have to pay taxes. Today, someone's younger brother probably "learned" that reading gives you super powers. And what's it all for? Convenience? The most reasonable explanation is that lying to your kids is easy to do and pretty funny.

Overworked and Irreplaceable Laborer Gets Even, Negotiates What He’s Owed After Working 90+ Hour Weeks

These managers should be fired for their incompetence. Not only did they refuse to adequately staff their operation; Their utter lack of care and thought resulted in at least $21,000 worth of damages. If not more.

For them to try to pin it onto this laborer, who was extremely overworked when the "accident" occurred is just plain wrong. It's business management 101 that things go wrong when labor is too thinly spread.

Props to this guy for turning the tables and getting what he was owed after working that many hours.

This reminds me of the woman who got paid out when she sued her former employer for trying to fire her for being pregnant.

Teaching Memes That Won't Really Make Anyone Learn Anything

Education is challenging for everyone involved. For students, it's a matter of being able to pay attention when you're almost certain you could be spending your time more wisely. For teachers, it's a matter of being engaging while dodging all the garbage the parents and the district try to throw at you. So here are some memes for the teachers and the people who deal with them. Honestly, these are pretty much a lot like work memes but with the added challenge of having to deal with stupid people's kids.

Professor's Appointment Gets Cancelled When He Shows Up 5 Minutes Late, Devises Clever Loophole

Redditor u/theoryofrelativetea shared the story of the time that they were late for an appointment to get some fingerprints taken that they absolutely had to make in order to teach a summer workshop. They had less than two weeks to go until the workshop started and needed to get the proper paperwork cleared first.

The subway was running behind schedule and made u/theoryofrelativetea late as a result. When they arrived to find that their appointment had been canceled they decided to comply with the rules in order to get an appointment anyways.

Despite the clever compliance involved here... Wouldn't it just be easier to make sure to show up on time? Especially since they knew that the subway was always late.

_____

For more malicious compliance check out this doctor that gave their patient a very generous sick note when they were forced to get one illegally by their employer.

Entitled Mom Takes Stranger's Reserved Seat, Doesn't Understand Why He's Upset

With all the seating options available, this mom decided that the only place she could possibly sit was the assigned seat some guy had already paid for. And when pressed, she straight up refused to move. The ensuing escalation led to more drama than the situation merited, but that's where the internet comes in to judge. If this guy hadn't responded with anger there would have been a far greater likelihood that he could have sat in his assigned seat. For some more seat stealing drama, here's the Karen who stole a seat so a whole family squeezed in with her.

Entitled Demanding Dunce Details Ridiculously Specific DoorDash Request

This has to be the most insanely ridiculous order request I have ever read. Going to go out on a limb here and say that the whipped cream in the cup was just one step too far. Not only does the DoorDash guy have no control over the food aspect of this order... As one commenter suggests, it is unlikely that Five Guys would even comply with his absurd demands.

This guy is probably better off just cooking his own food. I don't think anyone wants to cook for him anyways. Just like this picky eater who ordered fast food to a Hibachi restaurant.

Fart Memes To Let Loose Upon The Unsuspecting Public

If you don't think farts are funny, you're untrustworthy. Think about it. It's one of the only sources of humor that's completely universal and no one gets hurt permanently. There's absolutely no downside. So if you're out here saying this is childish, moronic, and only idiots could find this funny, you are right and you need to find some different company. Now here's a waffle maker that also makes farts.

Tall Guy Fed Up With Answering “That” Question, Changes His Tinder Bio to Clear Things Up

Do we stand with Jason on this? 6'3.

__

Jason might be on to something here with his updated Tinder bio. What is it with people's obsession with height on dating apps?

By the look of things Jason was utterly sick of answering the question about his height, since that was all girls seemed to care about. He showed up in the Reddit post on his reddit account memeking-of-angmar to comment on his Tinder bio.

Regarding his experience with dating apps:
"Tbh I deleted my tinder a month or so ago. Once you get to a certain amount of matches a day the app becomes very boring." -memeking-of-angmar

"And then you realize a lot of the women on the other end are just treating it like a game as well, and that nobody is looking for actual connections but for the dopamine rush associated with validation. It's just brain poison." -memeking-of-angmar

Lord Of The Rings Memes That Are More Fire Than A Balrog

What is it that we love so much about the Lord of The Rings trilogy? Could it be the perfect world-building? Perhaps it's the fact that the movie adaptations were cast excellently and made us feel like we were really there in Middle Earth? Or maybe it's literally every other aspect of this completely terrific story? Let's just settle on "everything except the way Denethor eats that tomato."

People Play Loud Music and Litter at Popular Outdoor Hangout Spot in New Zealand, Fellow Kiwis Are Seething

Why can't we just enjoy the silence?

______

It is amazing what technology has contributed to our experience outdoors. The advancement of lithium-ion batteries has increased our ability to enjoy and interact with nature, and do it with relative assured safety.

Architectural Fails That Are Far From Structurally Sound

This series of architectural fails is anything but structurally sound. The fools behind these projects put the one in 'you had one job.' As human beings and users of basic constructional infrastructure such as buildings, roads, and train tracks, it's pretty important to us that the engineering behind said infrastructure is sound and secure. These horrible, sad, terrible, good for nothing architectural fails cause us physical pain. We recommend not staring for too long, your brain may explode as a result of frustration. So many architecture fails, so little time.
