These Star Trek Memes Are Set To Stunning

There's just something about watching a crew of tight-shirted dorks in an endless morality play that really gives us a squeeze of the good brain juice. Maybe it's because it makes us feel smart despite having a dubious basis in actual science. Maybe it's that feeling of endless possibility that a universe offers. Maybe it's all of the aliens that look like humans with some extra forehead, all locked in struggles of political turmoil that so mirror our own world.

Honestly, we think it's Captain Kirk's campy "two fisted smash" that he uses to impossibly incapacitate his enemies. Or the fact that after so long, you'd think the engineers of the future would find a way to stop sparks from shooting everywhere every time they get hit with something. It's kind of beautiful that Star Trek has the capacity to be both terrific and also kind of dumb at the same time. But isn't that the case with everything that we love?

Here are some more Star Trek memes to show to the next generation.

Fiancée Brags About Being Breadwinner, Is Late On Rent And Only Spends Money On Herself

It seems like this person has a misinformed idea of what the term "breadwinner" actually means. If you make more money than your partner, but you still split your expenses 50/50 and spend the difference on yourself, you don't get to give your friends and family the impression that you're the moneyed life raft that your partner is clinging onto for dear life. The descriptions here seem to indicate that it's kind of the other way around. Hell, it seems like this lady is pretty crap with her money altogether.

The internet was quick to point out that marrying someone who lies about this sort of thing might not be a very good move. OP was probably leaning in this direction in the first place, and all the responses indicating that, "yeah, that's a weird thing to do" were most likely the icing on the cake when it came to postponing the wedding entirely.

25 Chaotic Times Misfortune Struck People's Lives

It's never a question of if things will go wrong. It's a question of when and how. The "how" is a really interesting one. Who knew there were so many ways that chaos could ruin someone's day? A single burst pipe or trampoline blown through a window has the capacity to ruin your month, and those aren't even things that are even on our radar most of the time. Sometimes junk just falls out of the sky. It's not super common, but it's also not something most of us take into account when we're looking for a place to park. Sometimes a problem can be as simple and complex as "bees." Sure, that's easy to say, but what's your plan for dealing with "bees?" Run away? What if they're on your stuff?

There are so many factors to consider regarding misfortune that maybe the best approach is "well cross that bridge when we get to it." But that's assuming the bridge itself is still standing.

Here are some more unpredictable moments of failure and chaos.

Mom Refuses to Help Around the House, Tells Husband Her Job is More Important Than His

Everyone has different priorities. Some people care about their hobbies, some about sport, and others still about their careers. When we join together and form relationships, these priorities can clash and cause conflict; without careful compromise, concession, and communication, these conflicts can grow and tear the relationship asunder.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit by the wife, u/workingmomaita, who feels that her husband should be picking up any extra slack that she demands without fuss.

There is absolutely a point to be made for "sharing the load" when it comes to jobs and household tasks. My partner and I have both (at different periods) had more or less flexibility in our jobs and more (or less) time sunk into our commutes. Whichever one has less "load" on our shoulders at that given time will help pick up the slack and do extra tasks so that the other one doesn't have to do them. This ultimately gives us an even split of stress and free time and gives us more time together, making both of us happier.

Honestly, this seems like it is both of their faults, but it's telling that the wife seems to think that her husband is obligated to pick up these extra tasks without a discussion about it. She may have a point, but that point is completely lost on the fact that she comes across as utterly focused on her career and completely uncaring about her family and their needs. And THAT is something that her husband has every right to be upset about.

Team Stitches Manager Up With Smelly Dude When Company Makes Workers Share Hotel Rooms

There's never anything good that will come out of cutting costs at the expense of employee morale, as commenter u/QuantomField points out. If you're willing to blatantly state to your workers that you care more about a couple of pennies than you do about them, you need to be prepared for all bets to be off.

Accountants never take the human aspect of the workplace into consideration, and when they're budgeting and balancing, they always (and actually just take for granted) the obvious fact that if you take care of someone, they're going to take care of you. As in, workers will often do everything they can to save costs for an employer who appreciates their work and treats them well, but if an employer is exploitative and doesn't see their workers as people, then the workers are going to maliciously comply with any rule that is changed and any expenditure that is allowed. They'll still color inside the lines, but they will color to the line.

Redditor u/TheMilkJug shared this brilliant story of doing precisely that to the r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit. See screenshots below.
