40+ Things to Unlock Your Nostalgia Gateway and Take You on a Wild Journey of Despair

Nostalgia is a double-edged sword of bliss and despair. When we put on our rose-tinted glasses and suspend our thoughts out into the blissfully distant realm of the past we're managing to escape and dissociate from whatever reality we are currently facing. But the thing you have to remember is that none of that is real. The past that you're remembering is only a slideshow of the best parts of the best and most memorable moments of your life and the world as it was at that time. It's a strange distortion of reality as it was, akin to that of something like an Instagram model's or travel blogger's story reel. You're not seeing all of the terrible, unedited, and unfiltered moments that went into making those highlights. So, not only is the reality you're suspending yourself into not real but when you're done doing the nostalgia equivalent of a TikTok death scroll you need to face your life again un edited and without filters. And that can only result in despair.

Since we've addressed how dangerous nostalgia can be… Here's a heavy dose of it. Enjoy these 40+ items that will take you on a trip of nostalgic bliss.

Guy Shares His Experience Trying to Sell A Couch Online, Every Response is A Scammer

This post is a grim narrative of the shocking state of online marketplaces and the exploitative nature of our society. What exactly has the world come to? You can't even sell a couch for $50 anymore without being drowned in a flood of opportunists looking to make a quick buck by accessing your private accounts. Wouldn't these people make more money if they just got a minimum wage job instead? Is low-grade scamming so lucrative that it pays an average income higher than $7.25 an hour?

This thread, which made it into Imgur's top trending posts, was posted to the popular image-sharing site with the title "PSA: Don't share money transfer info with people you don't know. All scams."

The post is comprised of screenshots of Facebook Marketplace conversations with prospective "buyers" who responded to a sale post they made for a used couch. Each of the responders were scammers trying to get personal information out of sellers to access their money transfer accounts and make unauthorized transfers.

This sparked conversation around the topic with readers and serves as an important reminder to be careful about who you are dealing with online. Scams are everywhere, and it's important to watch out for them. Take these obvious scams that people still fall for as great examples.

Karen Screams at Cashier, Attacks Manager, Gets Arrested

Who has a better story than Bran the Broken? Well, anyone with a first-hand story of watching a Karen getting arrested for starters.

This Reddit user, u/SimMinnie, shared a tale more epic (and better written) than the last season of Game of Thrones to the r/EntitledPeople subreddit. It's no secret that we love a good story about an entitled person getting their comeuppance and this one certainly ticks all the boxes.

u/SimMinnie explains that the story took place when they were working as a supermarket cashier. Which, like any customer service position, puts you straight in the firing line of an entitled Karen.

They go on to explain that things could get extremely hectic in the supermarket where they worked and on an extremely busy day things took a turn for the worst. A customer wanted a massive order processed through the supermarket's complex and time-consuming "delivery process." They turned to the rest of the customers waiting in line and tried to set the expectation that there would be a long wait. Of course, Karens are never understanding of such an expectation. The situation devolved into a catastrophe as Karen lost all of her marbles.
