'I can't believe someone could be so heartless': Boss shames employee for missing a team day after his wife had a seizure

As Kanye West once said, "How could you be so heartless?" This horrible boss decided to confront their employee about missing a mandatory in-office team day despite already knowing that the employee was taking care of his wife after she suffered from a seizure. Yup, you read that correctly. A literal seizure. And yet this guy still had the nerve to confront the employee about it, shame him, and then threaten to not give him the raise he requested.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by u/MuukenTuuken, and honestly, people should use this post as a blueprint for what not to do when you're someone's boss because this is just ludicrous. Sure, the employee's wife may have a non-life-threatening form of epilepsy, but it's still epilepsy regardless! Keep scrolling below to see what people had to say in the comments section. 'Got fired... same night, the CEO posts this': 20+ Most Mildly Infuriating Moments of the Week (May 22, 2023)

These people have some tiny little gripes to share. This week, we scoured the r/mildlyinfuriating subreddit for the best (and craziest) slightly irritating moments of this week

There's plenty to complain about in this world. From receiving a birthday cake that's way more questionable than you ordered, to getting stuck with the world's most annoying rideshare driver, people had some wild things to share.

Check it out below! Then, click here to read about this bumbling roommate who needed his own "unique" set of rules after he kept doing the most bizarre things imaginable.

‘My sister wanted to eat like a dog’: Daughter vows to act like a canine at the dinner table, Mom tests her by only feeding her dog biscuits

When you're a kid, you tend to think you can be anything you want to be, even a dog. This Redditor's younger sister decided that was exactly what she wanted to be after watching 101 Dalmatians and deciding it was her favorite movie.

When it came to eating food, this meant that she wouldn't use utensils of any kind and would only lick the plate and eat on the floor. As you can imagine, this could get extremely infuriating (and messy) after a while. It's cute and fun for a brief second, but then the Mom must have realized she needed to put a stop to this behavior before it was too late. So, she went for some good old-fashioned malicious compliance. She decided to only feed her daughter dog biscuits as long as she was acting like this. After a while, the scheme worked and the daughter got over it.

'I called up corporate (yes, call me Karen)': Delivery driver phones a lying customer's boss

Power to all the workers who have had enough of lying customers getting their way. This guy is one of them. As a delivery guy, u/Motor-Corner4861 shared to the r/doordash_drivers subreddit, they had an encounter with a liar that was quite memorable.

The OP writes that they got an order for a burger place, and drove the order to the customer. They actually remembered this dude, due to a name that was out of the ordinary. The OP thought the transaction went smoothly, which was reinforced by an extra $5 tip. But from there, things went downhill fast, with the customer attempting to scam both the delivery service and the driver. The driver used all their resources to solve the problem, while also managing to embarrass the customer in front of their whole workplace.

Scroll down to read the OP's story and commenters who were cheering them on. Then, check out this dude who took an "unplanned vacation," leaving their workplace floundering without them.

'Loyalty will make you poor': Coworker quits after getting final raise, gets competitive offer elsewhere

This is what happens when you put a cap on income and employee benefits! If employers continue to expect loyalty without continuing to provide incentives for improvement and mobility, they shouldn't expect folks to stick around for long. This thread, which was posted to Reddit by u/guntonom, is further proof of that fact.

When OP's coworker reached their ten-year mark at the company, that milestone also happened to be the last time they could receive a raise. So what did that employee do? Naturally, he lost his sense of loyalty and used this final raise to get a more competitive offer from another company. In a different time, some might have called this an act of betrayal. However, now, we can properly view this as an act of self-empowerment. The best way for employers to motivate those that have been working hard for years is to promote them and pay them fairly. Pure and simple!

‘I got my boss fired’: Boss tells employee to ‘stay in the office’, employee complies, boss gets fired as a result

Management naturally steers towards less actual work by ordering employees around rather than stepping up and doing what is needed for the role. So it isn't surprising when some employees begin holding a vendetta. This corporate manager got his own personal annual goals and sent them off to OP, his employee, adding to his long list of responsibilities. Every year, the manager would unfairly get a bonus for OP's hard work.

In order to deliver results, OP had to leave his desk at times, even the office. But because OP had a lot of responsibilities of his own, AKA in his own job description, he was torn between staying inside and helping other employees, to going out and completing all his boss's tasks. His boss was furious that OP dared leave the office (to complete the tasks he'd assigned him, mind you) and told OP that he must not leave his desk under any circumstances.

So, OP decided to maliciously comply. OP didn't leave his desk at all… let alone the office. His boss's annual review came around, which he failed miserably thanks to OP's compliance with his request. This led to a lot of scrutiny for OP's boss, and upper management found out a lot of things that he had been hiding, leading to his own firing. Scroll down to read the detailed account of events.

'I need to get paid on payday': Bartender gets fired and blocked for demanding to be paid on time

Remember that one kid from your high school English class who treated everything like it was a complete joke—to the point of cruelty—never taking or accepting responsibility for any of his actions? Yeah, well, that kid could have very likely gone on to become someone's manager or open their own business. Now there's a terrifying thought.

It's like George Carlin famously put it: "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

Well, this bar owner and the manager they appointed to run it were probably both that kid from class, getting their egos involved and firing one of their bartenders after they enquired after their paycheck, blocking them and refusing to pay the bartender what they were owed.

The bartender shared screenshots of the exchange in a popular Reddit sub, asking for advice and providing context in a lengthy comment. Readers replied with some advice, advising the bartender to report the incident and to follow up on the check and wrongful termination.

Read on for the shared text messages and some of the responses below. Afterward, check out this unhinged message that a restaurant owner sent to staff.
