"Series of Tubes" is No Longer the Dumbest Thing Anyone Has Said About the Internet, Thanks to Ted Cruz
For those of you unfamiliar with the hot button issue of Net Neutrality: Lawmakers, cable companies, and media groups are arguing about whether the internet should be classified by the FCC as a utility (like electricity) or a telecommunications service (like your cable television). If cable companies like Comcast had their way they would prefer the latter, and your internet would look an awful lot like premium cable - complete with certain sites or services that had to be "bought into." Thus why the rest of the internet is saying "NO THANKS PLEASE" to the rest and calling for Net Neutrality.
But really, Ted Cruz gets to the heart of the matter, because clearly an open internet where businesses are on an equal footing to compete with one another is the socialist Obama-geddon of the internet as we know it.
Viral Video of the Day: Swiffer Guy Caught Dancing in Underwear
This almost seems too good to be true.
Hot on the heels of "Alex from Target," this clip of a guy dancing while swiffering in his underwear is now literally everywhere.
Jimmy Pope, the nearly-naked star of the video, was cleaning up after a Halloween party, and strutting his stuff to Sheena Easton's "Morning Train" when his roommate caught him on camera.
The video has picked up more than 4 million views since it was posted last week, and it was featured all over the morning talk shows Monday including The Today Show, Good Morning America, and The View.
Twitter, doing what Twitter does best, helped spread the video with the hashtag #willworkforpants.
The uploader, Justin Chen, posted about all the exposure on his Facebook page:
"This isn't real life. It's some kind of weird joke and it's weirding me out.
No word yet on whether Breakr is also claiming responsibility for this video's success.
Close Call of the Day: Propeller Slices Through Plane During Crash Landing in Canada
This is the stuff of nightmares, especially if you're already scared of flying.
An Air Canada flight was forced to make a crash landing on Thursday, when one of its tires burst soon after take-off from Calgary.
But as the plane went down, the landing gear collapsed, and its propeller broke off, slicing into the plane and hitting passenger Christina Kurylo in the head.
Fortunately, no one died, and there were only minor injuries.
"I'm really lucky. It could have been a million times worse," said Christina Kurylo. "I could have died, you know, you never know what could have happened."
Kurylo was one of 5 employees from an Alberta-based radio station that were all on board when the incident occurred. And they seem to be taking it all in stride.
5 members of our team were on the flight that crashed in #yeg Speedy recovery to Christina who's still in hospital. http://ift.tt/1tUCYJv
