Witty Work Memes for Weekday Soldiers With a Permanent Case of the Mondays (May 9, 2023)

They should have called it 'Cinco DON'T Mayo'– this weekend really fried your brain and body, so how are you supposed to tackle the mountain of work you procrastinated on from last week on top of this week's work load? Memes! Maybe they don't solve your problems at work, but finding the humor in the day can keep your wits about you even when Q2 targets are crumbling all around you. Work sucks regardless of what you do, but does your entire day have to be terrible? (Don't answer that).

For anyone suffering from a permanent case of the Mondays, it doesn't really matter what you do at work, it simply matters that you showed up at all. So if you clocked in today, give yourself a pat on the back and an extra 15 minute break as a reward. You've earned it. Want more memes to procrastinate with? 'This makes zero sense': Woman's plane travel luggage hack baffles her family

I thought I'd heard every travel hack, until I read this one, that is. I can truly say I've never thought about treating my luggage the way this woman plans to.

Airports are quite strict with their luggage requirements. If you don't look it up before you go, you'll be stuck with a suitcase that's too big or too heavy, meaning you'll have to cough up some cash to fly your precious belongings along with you. And heaven forbid you have liquids that are more than 3.4 ounces, or have a carry on that can't fit under your seat!

People have been coming up with clever travel hacks for years. You can try wearing all or most of your clothes in order to save on luggage fees, and all you have to do is wear layers upon layers of clothing as you sweatily waddle through airport terminals. Or lately, people have been shoving pillows under their shirts to try and sneak those onto the plane…but some get caught, and then they're stuck paying for their extra luggage. What a headache. This woman's plan is well intended but just so baffling, so scroll down to make sure you don't do what she's got planned.

'Oh we aren't signing it': Tenants undergo monthly apartment inspections, they move out without informing management

There's nothing like reading about apartment drama to make you feel better about your situation. We've all dealt with shady landlords at some point in our adult lives, but this couple definitely has earned my sympathy. Just because their landlords discovered that their other tenants were using their space for less-than-legal purposes, this Redditor had to suddenly undergo monthly inspections. On top of that, the landlord's wife forced them to make changes to their space after each inspection, mostly because she disagreed with their furniture choices.

Eventually, the Redditor and his now-wife were able to find a house to move into and because their lease renewal didn't mention anything about informing the landlords that they were moving out, they decided to prolong that announcement until the last possible moment. Keep scrolling below for the full play-by-play and to see what people had to say in the comment. For more, here are the top choosing beggars of the week!

'My neighbor parks in the middle of our double-driveway': Guy claims authorities 'won't come out' to solve issue with neighbor

There's no way this guy will let their neighbor get a free fence out of them. But apparently that won't stop her from trying!

In a popular post to r/mildlyinfuriating, one person shared their story of neighborhood troubles. The post really resonated, with more than 5,500 people chiming in with helpful suggestions.

The issue is that the OP, u/anselld, and their neighbor share the same driveway. OP included a lovely photograph, included below, to show the way the driveway leads up to their two homes. The neighbor really wants the OP to foot the bill for a brand new fence, right in the middle of the driveway. And to reinforce that, she's been parking right in the middle of their shared space.

Even worse, the OP claims that the Sheriff won't handle the situation. In the comments, people had plenty of useful advice that ensures the OP won't have to spend their money on a fence.

Next, this boss went through an employees belongings, so the employee asked how they could get some 'malicious compliance' style revenge.

'She wants to use you': Estranged uncle has no interest in meeting his sister's kids after being guilted into providing free childcare for weeks

Being estranged from a family member can be tough, but if they're the toxic, narcissist type, for some folks, being away from their family is actually a huge relief. Distancing yourself from that sort of dynamic is the best thing to do, but when rotten family members come out of the woodwork in order to get something from you, it smells like trouble from a mile away. In this case, one man who was alienated from his family gets roped back into the drama in the course of one phone call when his sister tries to schmooze her way back into his good graces using her own children as a weapon.

OP had created a healthy niche in his life after years of abuse from his small-town home. Hours away from anyone who may harass him, he'd grown accustomed to the twice-a-year group text from the family saying, "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Easter". However, his sister, who had stayed in town, went after him after decades of not speaking. Something reeks of ulterior motives here…

He wasn't invited to her wedding and had never met her husband or two small children, but all of the sudden, OP's sister was supremely interested in having a relationship with her big bro. The catch? She actually just wanted him to take care of her kiddos for a few weeks while she was on vacation. Yikes. Scroll for the full, detailed story of how this man stood his ground, protecting his niece and nephew from his bachelor pad and forcing his sister to take a hard look at their past.

'She was always late for work': Coworker achieves petty revenge two years in the making

There are two types of people: those who can be on time, and those who cannot ever manage to do so. It clearly caused some workplace friction in this story shared to r/pettyrevenge.

One employee had had enough of their coworker, "J," making everyone suffer the consequences of her actions. As the OP wrote, J had tons of bad habits, like not answering the radio as she disappeared for hours on end, and being so late that it impacted everyone else's shift. The OP even writes that she was over three hours late at times! It's no wonder this person was completely fed up with J.

'We won’t pick up your trash next week': Kevin goes on a power trip about trash rules, neighbor gets revenge by canceling their scheduled pickup

Now, this is the kind of trashy we can get behind! This Redditor was slightly delayed in taking out the trash but still managed to bring it out before the pickup. Sounds like a nice save, but their Kevin next-door neighbor noticed and went on a full power trip about the fact that OP didn't take out their trash before 7 am. I'm sorry, but was this bothering anyone? It's not like it made a mess, unlike Kevin's constantly overflowing trash.

Rather than dump Kevin's trash on his lawn as many of the folks in the comments section suggested, OP decided to get creative with their form of petty revenge. They called the trash pickup company, pretending to be Kevin, and requested to cancel his pickup for the next several weeks while claiming that they will be on vacation during this time. So for the next few weeks, Kevin's overflowing trash was left untouched by the pickup company. It doesn't get much pettier (or trashier) than that!
