‘Sorry to Break It to You, Our Work Culture Sucks’ : 20 Funniest Memes for the Broke Crowd Who Live for the Weekend

There are few people in this world who can honestly say that they actually enjoy their jobs. Most of us just kind of exist in this black hole called existence and try not to stir stuff up with HR or yell at our office Karen. If you work in retail, you try not to end up in the News for jumping at a customer. You count every day leading up to the weekend, and tell your coworkers that you are 'definitely quitting this year'.

2023 is basically as stressful as 2022, and we're only a few days in… A long (preferably paid-for) vacation is needed. Christmas definitely didn't cut it. Today feels like the kind of day where you wake up and complain about how broke, tired, and overworked you are. So that's what we're doing right now, making sure that this miserable energy gets tossed around accordingly. Just kidding, we're obsessed with memes, and that's how we're gonna make ourselves feel better, as usual.

It's the best way to procrastinate and ignore your real-life problems. The weekend also offers us some much needed relief. We can just lounge on the couch and watch 'The Office', scroll mindlessly through Tinder, and think about good comebacks to arguments we had weeks ago. Forget the emails that are sitting unopened in your inbox for a sec, and scroll down to check out these relatable memes.

Also, feel free to check out this inspirational dude who created a business out of spite. We ourselves don't have the head for it, but it made us seriously consider the option all the same.

A Plethora of Pickup Lines Ranging From Cheesy To Cringe

We're sure at least one of these worked! You'll just have to figure out which one that is. The following compilation of pickup lines demonstrates the full range of possibilities. As we all know, there is an art to an effective pickup line, but if you don't master that art, you might as well just not use pickup lines at all. The reality is: a great pickup line can make you feel anything from cute and wholesome to hot and bothered. But a bad pickup line? Well, a bad pickup line can only really crash and burn. So if you have recently re-downloaded all the dating apps, and if you are ready to start swiping and matching and dating and ghosting (rinse, repeat, etc.), then you might as well keep scrolling below to brush up on your pickup lines. Find the right one that works for you or feel free to contribute some more of your own in the comments! When you're done, here are some new dating app fails.

'[He] deserves a life of his own': Unhinged Dad refuses to let fully grown son leave the house, Mom saves the day

I guess father does not know best! In this scenario, at least, the father in question was objectively in the wrong here. This thread, which was posted to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit, shows how an unhinged dad completely misses the point and confuses his son's desire for independence with "selfishness."

The post was written by the 23-year-old son's mother, who decided to intervene and help her fully grown kid rent an apartment of his own so that he could get a job and live his own life. His father wanted him to stay so he could keep taking care of his disabled younger brother. Of course, we are sensitive to this difficult predicament, but the way the Dad went about this was just all kinds of crazy. He kept on rescinding his own son's job applications so that he wouldn't ever have a shot at getting out. Absolutely wild!

'I am holding recruiters [...] to the same standard': Job seeker sends recruiter scathing email that divides the internet.

The performing art that is the job interview process can be exhausting. There are woefully unqualified and manipulative recruiters at every turn, hiding in the shadows, just itching to waste your energy and precious time. Once you make it to a first-round interview (after receiving no response to 50 other applications), you're put into the gauntlet of the interview charade where nothing matters except for charisma and the ability to feign competency. It doesn't matter a lick whether or not you're actually qualified; can you convince the interviewers (who might have no technical experience in your field) that you're qualified?

This frustrating exercise can get the better of even the most emotionally hardy of us, and this job seeker has become determined to turn the tables of the situation and get back at bad recruiters by giving them the "what for."

That's all well and good, but their specific approach to the situation has divided readers. While some readers have applauded their drum beating and flag raising, others are pointing out that they might have jumped the gun and been a little quick to pull the trigger on their email. They sent their email (pictured) at 12:07 pm, a mere minutes after their interview was scheduled to be held. Who knows what number of things could have gone wrong to cause this delay? Sure, if it were the other way around, the job seeker probably wouldn't be receiving a second chance, but has their response gone too far? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.

Keep reading for the screenshots of the email and reactions below, as posted in Reddit's r/recruitinghell subreddit. For more, check out this idiot interviewer who was late for a job interview and then tried to blame the candidate.
