Restaurant Sign Is Full Of Lasting Jokes And Insight
If we could get all our advice from a Tex-Mex restaurant in Austin, we would. And to a great degree, we do. Nothing soothes a broken heart like the warm embrace of hot queso. It's like a hug from the inside, and pretty soon all of our organs will be encased in a thin layer of love that will inevitably shock our doctors.
But restaurants only provide us with a gooey and delicious replacement for feelings, they also sometimes have a strong and persistent culture of sign jokes, to feed out hungry minds as well. El Arroyo is nonstop with the quips, and that's a beautiful thing. The big sign is a true bastion of self-expression. The foot-tall mismatched letters like a paintbrush in the hands of so many a Da Vinci. The many puns and jokes, each their own Mona Lisa.
Here are some more sign jokes for people who prefer their puns large and in public.
Father-in-Law Forced to Intervene When Bride's Family Attempts to Hijack Her Wedding, Tells Them to "F-Off"
This bride was approached by her family, who demanded that she give up her wedding plans to her sister who "Needs it more" after her sister fell unexpectedly pregnant. When she declined to give in to the demand her parents began to usurp her bookings and contact her reservations behind her back.
This story was shared by Redditor, u/paperweightfairy, to the r/entitledparents subreddit, where it has become one of the highest voted posts of all time for the sub. As you might expect from the name, r/entitledparents is a sub where people can share stories they have experienced with entitled people who think that they are a gift to the earth just because they crapped out a child. Though, often, these stories center on people's own parents and the entitled and selfish things that their parents have put them through.
Such was the case for u/paperweightfairy, who will hereafter be referred to as the OP (Original Poster.)
OP had planned her wedding for years as she had been finishing her Ph.D. She and her fiancé had been sure to book her "dream venue," where the two planned to be married after a three-year engagement.
This delayed engagement is not surprising following the trend among younger generations who have been getting married at lower rates than ever before.
A two-year-old study indicated that only 3 in 10 millennials have a family of their own. Down from 4 in 10 amongst Gen X-ers and both down from 59% of Boomers when they were at comparable ages.
All indications are that modern work and education requirements and decreased affordability thanks to higher living costs have contributed to these declines.
OP's family, frantic and the news of her sister's pregnancy, ambushed her at a family barbecue and insisted that she give her approaching wedding reservations to her younger sister.
When OP declined to give her reservations to her sister, her sister rushed off in tears. Her mother then retorted, "You waited three years. Would it have killed you to wait a few more months?"
This would begin a significant ordeal for OP and her fiancé. Her family would start using underhanded and shady tactics to tear their reservation away from them.
It begs the question; Wouldn't it have been a better use of time and energy to just, instead, put that energy towards planning an additional wedding?
Luckily for OP, and seldom the case in these stories, her future in-laws were a voice of reason. Her father-in-law stepped in to help his son and daughter-in-law out and told her parents to "F*** right off."

Guy Gives Notice to Job, Company Revokes All PTO
A disgruntled worker shared this experience to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit, claiming that their employer had refused to honor their accrued PTO once they handed in their notice. They had thought that they were doing the correct and honorable thing by giving their notice to their employer but felt that this had just come back to bite them.
The relationship between an organization and its workers is built upon trust. Once that trust is betrayed by a worker/workers it's completely fair that the organization loses faith in those individuals. However, when the organization betrays the trust of one of its workers it's only going to be natural for them to lose confidence in the organization. That's an important thing for employers to realize, if you do things like not honor accrued leave for an employee, other employees are going to find out. This is going to completely destroy the morale of your remaining team members and ensure that they don't give you any notice when they decide to leave as well. So, in this roundabout way, it's actually a good business decision to front the cost of something such as paying out leave. It's a cost of doing business and maintaining trust, even with your departing employees, will only serve to help you in the long run.
Commenters voiced their outrage at the employer's actions and shared some stories of their own.
