A Collection Of 23 Memes For Employees Working Overtime This Week Due to Wages Crawling at a Snail's Pace

Employees are forced to work overtime as prices soar, thanks to the decrease in the purchasing power of money. In other words, inflation is influenced by various factors, including supply and demand dynamics, government policies, and global economic conditions. We're going down a slippery road, barely being able to keep up with the tide… so we do what we have to. The cost of living is kind of ridiculous; from coffee to groceries to a pint of beer at a pub.

In addition to our wages that are crawling at a snail's pace, our working conditions are also not exactly stable, and management is a tough crowd to please. Big corporations are running us into the ground, and we're letting them. Well, not all of us… just tune in to r/maliciouscompliance or r/petty revenge and you'll see a bunch of people who have made it their mission to turn things around.

Below you'll find some hilarious coworker memes that perfectly portray what we're all going through. For more like this, you can check out last week's meme collection here. Here's to hoping our vacation comes sooner than later…

'I was like absolutely not': Employees share stories of mandatory group Halloween costumes at work

Office group activities are never fully embraced. In fact, they're often some out-of-touch supervisor's idea. That supervisor probably rarely shows up to work and may not even participate in the activity themselves, yet everyone else is expected to go along with it. In this case, we have two coworker stories to share with you all about mandatory office Halloween costume ideas.

Both threads were posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit. In the first story, OP was required to dress up as their favorite milkshake flavor and ended up coming into the office wearing a Lactaid shirt. Next, we have an employee who was required to come in as a character from The Wizard of Oz. This OP decided to bring a green curtain to hang by their office and ended up hiding behind it all day. Look, these folks thought outside the box and for that alone, I'd say they understood the assignment.

'Everyone in line immediately started laughing at her': Entitled customer throws a fit after realizing she has to wait in line like everyone else

Kids sometimes have major meltdowns when they have to wait for what they want, and even some grown adults never outgrow that phase of their life. No one likes to wait in line, whether you're queuing up to buy a meal, purchase a ticket, or buy some new clothes. But lines are pretty necessary at most stores, of course. There'd be a lot of fighting going down if there was no set of rules in place.

While the reason for lining up seems obvious and fairly simple to most of us, this entitled woman didn't care for that. U/Luciferbelle shared their story to r/retailh*ll, stating that the incident took place at a small retail location on a rather busy day. Check out the entire story below. Then read through the comments, where other retail workers shared their stories of similar scenarios they've been through.

'Your original pay is now void': Employee quits without notice, fast food manager tries to pay him minimum wage for final paycheck

Here is a friendly reminder that illegal contracts are still null and void regardless of whether or not you signed them. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by a former employee of a popular fast food chain. After quitting without notice, the employee remembered they had signed a contract stating that if this were to happen, they would get paid minimum wage for any final pay periods.

Thankfully, this employee researched their rights and knew this was illegal. They reached back out to the manager and expressed that if this did occur, they would be contacting the Department of Labor. The manager's response was not only completely lame but also completely stupid. You would think if an employee came to you with receipts like that, you would recognize that unless you had receipts of your own, you should give in, but some folks shouldn't be managers.

Update: 'We’re not in a forest so who cares': Woman douses fire-starting neighbor's banned fire, ignites a feud

Just a pro tip for those of you looking to enjoy the comfort of an outdoor fire this summer… If there's already a nearby forest fire raging, throwing out enough smoke to choke your entire region of the country... just don't. Don't do it. Find something—anything—else to do instead, just as long as it doesn't involve starting a non-metaphorical fire in a literal tinderbox.

With large swathes of North America being drowned in the smoke of forest fires every summer in recent memory, it would just be great if we could not do that.

Sometimes rules exist for a reason, so when the fire guys are saying, "Don't start fires," there's probably a good reason behind it. Now, I'm not condoning going out and spraying your neighbors with a hose (if they don't deserve it), but it seems that this woman did the right thing. She may be an a-hole, but, as commenters have declared, she's a justified one.

Read on to see screenshots of her original post that she shared to Reddit and the reader's responses. Next, check out this guy who literally bought out his trashy neighbors to have them evicted.
