Hiring Manager Tells Candidate They Can Work Remote, Turns Out It's Only "After 5PM", Quits on Third Day

This job seeker was drawn in by a hiring manager's promise of a flexible working environment. The interviewer promised that they would be able to work remotely some of the time in a "hybrid" style of arrangement.

They went all the way through the interview and hiring process and were three days into orientation and training before they were first acquainted with the person who would be their new manager. It wasn't until they asked this would-be manager about the flexible schedule that the manager dropped this ridiculous bombshell on them. Turns out… The company's "hybrid" policy was that you're allowed to go home and work only after your shift is done. "You can work from home after five," the boss told them. The job seeker was "floored" as any of us would have been. It's hard to believe that the company tried to pull this malarky off and managed to keep a straight face while doing it.

As commenters were quick to point out, the company probably couldn't care less about their wasted time and resources. They certainly don't care about the candidate's wasted time and resources either. Their ultimate goal is to trap people in who are vulnerable or just don't know any better.

Twitter Users Share Terrifically Creepy Things Kids Said To Them

Sometimes kids say some extremely creepy stuff. It's not uncommon for kids to go on about previous lives they claim to live like in the cases of these creepy times kids mentioned past lives. Rest assured, there are a few plausible explanations for this kind of thing. It could be that when kids accidentally say something that gets an adult's full and undivided attention, they just try to keep it rolling by adding extra details, resulting in off-the-wall stories. It could also be that adults read way too far into the things their own kid says. Another option is that all these people's lives are so empty and uninteresting that they make up weird stories for fake internet points. It's all possible in this great, big stupid world of ours.

Parenting is hard enough when your kid isn't insisting that they're the second coming of your grandpa and then listing his name and favorite activities.

Oblivious People Who Seriously Didn't Get Jokes

Who's fault is it when someone doesn't get a joke? Honestly it depends. If it was too subtle a joke to begin with, or if it's just extremely unfunny, then we can safely fault the joke-attempter for being bad at their job. But if that joke is smokin' good, or at least pretty easy to get, we can in no good conscience allow random idiots on the internet to lambast someone for "being dumb" when it was they who could have thought about it for a moment.

Nothing boils our blood quite like seeing a good, or at least functionally okay joke get insulted just because someone was too stupid to get it. Just cause you don't have the desire to understand why a joke is good, doesn't give you a free pass to think you're clever for not getting it. All you get to be is another chowderhead who seriously didn't get jokes.

Mother-In-Law Announces Couple's Pregnancy On Facebook Before They're Ready, Plays Victim When Confronted

A woman discovered that she was pregnant with an unplanned pregnancy and confided in her husband. When that little mama's boy ran and told his mother the news anyways… She immediately took to the ol' Facebook to tell the world the good news, completely disregarding the couple's wishes. When her daughter-in-law confronted her, she went into full victim mode.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA subreddit by the daughter-in-law. She posted the story to appeal to readers and see whether or not she was in the wrong for reprimanding her mother and leading to a chain reaction of overreactions.

Commenters were very supportive and, as Redditors love to do, they offered some very strong advice. Most commenters seem to be encouraging her to divorce her husband, who seemed determined to defend his mother over his wife and to run as far away from this family as humanly possible.

It goes without saying that she is not the a-hole in this situation. The mother-in-law just has probably never had to deal with the consequences of her own actions before. Divorce might not necessarily be in the cards but she certainly needs to resolve her relationship issues with her husband if she wants to carry his child.

What's your take?

Tumblr Rises To Explain The Rich, Flakey History Of Bread Fraud

Every day we're surprised to learn about minor features of everyday life that have their roots in ancient customs. It makes sense. Bread has been around for almost as long as lying, so naturally the people of the past had to come up with ways to prevent their precious bread from being tainted by lies and sawdust.

Here, Tumblr goes on to explain the historical significance of bread stamps, which very well could have been one of the better things about bread before it came sliced. It's always a good reminder that people who lived seemingly forever ago, while frequently shortsighted, ignorant, and violent, were also clever. And to be honest, they were probably about as shortsighted, ignorant and violent as people today. We still have tracking information on food packaging for largely the same reasons that anyone would have applied a bread stamp back in the day.

Here are some more tumblr gems to help deal with that sinking feeling.

Delusional Gym Bro Gives Woman Unsolicited Advice, Thinks That She's the A-Hole, Gets Blasted

The first and most important rule of not being an a-hole is to mind your own business. This gym bro and his buddies forgot to follow that rule and may have made this poor stranger feel uncomfortable returning to this gym again, making themselves look like total clowns.

It's also essential to remember that, in life, you're presented with a two-dimensional perspective of another person's life. The small glimpse you gain when you see someone at the gym for an hour a week or even an hour a day is just a tiny drop in the bucket that is a wealth of their own experiences. This girl could have been an Olympic dancer for all he knew… Yet he thinks his fitness knowledge is superior to hers because one day, he decided to pick up heavy things in a room and built an entire personality around it. As commenters have also pointed out, he has no idea why she is doing the routine she is doing… Or if she even wants to have a routine at all. There is immense value in exploring and learning multiple facets of something before you lock yourself into one way of doing something.

He hasn't minded his own business and hasn't even stopped to consider that there are other workouts in life than push, pull, legs. So this guy is a total a-hole.
