Girlfriend Won't Let Stay-at-Home Dad Work, so He Steals From Their Emergency Fund

What happens when you pair a working lady who financially abuses her partner with a stay-at-home dad who has a spending problem?

The answer is that this relationship has more red flags than a Woody Allen movie. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit by u/Ameliaroselia, who shared her story of discovering that her boyfriend, the father of her kid, stole thousands of dollars from her emergency safe over the course of a year.

Now before everyone goes on to blame him entirely for the situation at hand, there's some nuance here. The Redditor admits that her boyfriend had expressed a desire to work more, a desire that she rejected for selfish reasons (wanting to spend more family time together). He also had a history of spending money irresponsibly, but her way of handling that compulsion was to make him run even the smallest of purchases by her before buying anything. We are in no way excusing stealing from your partner; what this guy did was obviously extremely messed up. Still, the financial abuse here cannot be excused either. In short, as many of the comments on Reddit suggest, they both suck.

'No OnE EvEr WaNtS tO dO aNyThInG': Toxic family group chat goes horribly wrong when petty aunt completely misses the point

Families always have a complicated dynamic. Because nobody has a perfect family, most people can relate to having a family group chat go completely awry, even when the best efforts and intentions are made. One woman knows better than anyone that a family chat can go south in an instant. Recently a girl named Mikayla was attempting to get the family reunited to celebrate the birthday of their grandma all together. To do so, she reached out to a large group of family members – aunts, cousins, siblings – in order to find a day and time that worked for everybody. When Aunt Debi immediately tried to make excuses to get out of things and when Mikayla provokes a real answer, everything went horribly wrong.

Aunt Debi immediately went on a rampage claiming that she was tired of dealing with their whole family, nobody was keeping in touch, and nobody ever made efforts to get together... In the group chat… Where Mikayla was literally trying to make a plan so everyone could get together…. And trying to make time for a family gathering.

Things get much worse after Aunt Debi's confused response and it becomes clear why this toxic family never gets together– apparently nobody can actually read the messages sent to them and respond in an appropriate way. Mikayla did her best to do something nice in honor of her grandma, but it all backfired with everyone decided to simply be petty.

Karen leaves business 1-star review because someone was rude to her child adjacent to it

Imagine you're a business owner who has just opened up their doors. You operate out of a storefront in a small neighborhood center that provides outdoor maintenance and cleaning.

Along comes a Karen with her flock of children; they're out of control, making a fuss and a scene. The maintenance guy is out front cleaning the sidewalk. They're repeatedly getting in the maintenance guy's way, pestering him with all types of questions, and he quickly has just about had enough. He lets it fly at Karen and her children.

Now, you're left with a 1-star review for something that wasn't even your fault, all because someone was rude to her children adjacent to your business.

That's exactly what might have happened in these screenshots that were shared to Reddit's r/F##kYouKaren subreddit by Redditor u/yoshigronk. The screenshots depict a 1-star review that was posted by a mother who was upset by how her children were treated near the business.

In the comments of the post, viewers shared their thoughts on the mother's review. See a selection of these below and view the original thread to see the full post.

UPDATE: 'I decided to take it to court': Bridesmaid gets kicked out of wedding for cutting her hair due to medical issue, sues bridezilla for not paying her back

For anyone who has ever had to deal with a crazy bridezilla, this story has the kind of triumphant ending bridezillas deserve. This thread and its update were reposted to the r/BestofRedditorUpdates subreddit, and let's just say that bridezillas everywhere better watch out after what happened to this one.

Essentially, the original poster had a medical issue that involved partial hair loss and therefore made the difficult decision to cut her hair off a couple of weeks before the wedding. However, this bridezilla could not fathom the idea that one of her bridesmaids would not look identical to the others and decided to fire her from the wedding party just a few days before the wedding. Well, seeing as the original poster had already spent a ridiculous amount of money on wedding-related expenses, she sent bridezilla and her fiancĂ© an invoice. When they didn't respond, she took them to court… and guess what, folks? She WON!

'HOA is demanding I move my plane': Snooping neighbors insist homeowner remove the sensible buoys and safety signs around his seaplane

Home Owner's Associations often delight in trying to get people to change their homes, but this HOA extended their reach even further.

For this person, their HOA didn't just try to control their property, but even made a lake their jurisdiction! As the OP wrote to r/AmItheA**hole, they live in a lakefront cottage. The OP is also a pilot who owns a seaplane, which they can keep conveniently parked in the water in front of their home. In an effort to keep everyone safe around the plane, the OP created their own warning signs, and put up buoys to demarcate a large area around the plane. Seems commonsensical? Not to this HOA, who came knocking at this homeowner's door to demand he get rid of it all.

Scroll down to read through the way this guy handled these HOA folks who were in his business. Then, check out these ultimate fails from people who are kicking themselves for their mistakes.

'Turned down three jobs for [this]': Worker shows up to their third day at new job to find the business has folded

Starting a new job can be as nerve-wracking as it is exciting. So many new doors open before you lead to new opportunities, which can bring a lot of uncertainty with it. Of course, those new doors won't lead anywhere at all if you show up on your third day to find them padlocked shut with a notice on the door…

That's what happened to this poor job-seeker, Reddit user yelloworange01, who shared their experience in a post to the popular r/antiwork subreddit, a community that deals with all kinds of workplace issues and discussion. In their post, they share what happened.

"[I] turned down three jobs for another offer," u/yelloworange01 wrote in the title of the thread. "Turned up for my third day at work. [The] company went into admin the night before and decided not to tell me, [they] just padlocked the door and left this."

The thread itself consisted of a photo of the notice that they said was posted at the front door of the business. The post explains the closure of the company due to financial business, though the worker was not personally notified.

In the comments, u/yelloworange01 explained further: "There was absolutely no warning to anyone, they laid off nearly 500 people and owed tens of thousands in unpaid commission to their staff, and the CEO filed bankruptcy." They also responded with more clarifying comments, sharing an email written by the CEO and some of the other fallout.

It's hard to imagine giving up the security of your job for a new one, only to find yourself completely without any job at all when the offer is withdrawn, or the business shuts down. Yet, this does happen, and the company often doesn't even need a reason to withdraw.
