In our own lives, we find ourselves in inconvenient petty struggles that take up way too much of our time. While these challenges are cosmically small, they can grow to inconvenience our personal lives and become intolerable, forcing us to become creative problem solvers. Sometimes people don't seem to understand that driving is a cooperative event. Graphic design, font choice and building decisions seem simple enough in our heads, but they come with pitfalls in practice. Design failures are all around us. One slip of the font can turn a fortress into a fartress or a public area into a pubic one. The architects of these design failures could use a little bit of blame. Of course, for the rest of us they just make life more fun and interesting.
It should come as no surprise that building stuff is hard. Or at least there are a whole lot of wrong ways to do it. Those ways reveal themselves in "not my job" moments of incompetent construction. There are a few ways to interpret the intriguing genetic diversity of human beings. One way is to look in awe at the limitless possibilities of our own twisting evolutionary path. The other way is to look in shame at our own genetic dead-end bodies, every day becoming more self-conscious about our weird nostrils and non-matching feet. But in the end, genetic variation is a good thing for survival and who knows, maybe the next great step in human evolution will be having a slightly longer big toe that helps us run away from the murder-bots or something.
