We've all had moments where we've been told some version of "why aren't you my first priority" by people who don't think the same of us in the first place. It's not like continuing to stick your neck out for someone who wants to take advantage of you scores you any morality points anyway. So the right thing to do is often to kindly tell them to go drop a bag of bowling balls on their mom.
Logic would dictate that if you're not getting paid enough at your main job, and your new boss tells you that you need to quit your second job, it might behoove you to just look for a new main job entirely. This algebra teacher did the math and figured it would be a better idea to just look for a new one entirely
