'Get your kids out of the way': Wannabe mom-fluencer gets banished from the park after dominating the playground for her own personal photoshoot

Mom-fluencers are objectively the worst. Half the time, they're the type of parents that film their child's tantrums to teach their 20,000 followers how to manage meltdowns, but in real life they're forgetting to give their kid any genuine attention, they're late to pick them up from school because they were live-streaming at Target, and they're the parent that would rather get those likes instead of putting a bandaid on their kiddo's scraped knee. A mommy influencer is always hunting for their next viral post…

That being said, one woman recently encountered a Karenish mom-fluencer in the wild. At a children's park, OP was observing her kids playing on a play structure alongside all of the other parents that day. With 30 kids running around at the peak time of day, there were a lot of parents there on the bench enjoying the day. In walks a mom-fluencer with a 6 month old baby in her arms, flaunting fake flowers and other props for her photoshoot. Nobody really paid any attention to the wannabe mommy-and-me until she started barking orders at the kids, screaming at them, and taking over the playground slide.

Keep scrolling for the full tale on how the parents at the park totally pwned the mom-fluencer monster and saved the park from her Godzillian takeover. 'Phil Collins sang like every fourth song on the radio': 30 Memes that only Gen Xers will understand

Gen X, these memes are just for you. You're in the baby bust generation, sometimes called the MTV generation, of people who were born between the years of 1965-1980. Your boomer parents probably raised you to be independent and take care of yourself in life, allowing you to spend all day outside with your friends. You came home when the sun set — no helicopter parenting for your generation!

Now that Gen Xers are in their late 30s to 50s, they're becoming parents and grandparents themselves. Things are so different for kids today — they love things like Fortnite and Tiktok and internet celebrities you've never heard of. Not to judge kids these days too hard, but the young people are very into iPads. You can't pry it out of their hands. They'll want to show you their Minecraft worlds… and it just makes you recall building pillow forts and having an imaginary world made up in your head.

Up next, this administrative assistant stunned their oblivious colleagues by pointing out that not everyone makes $100k per year.

'My date asked if we knew each other': Guy goes on cringe first date when he discovers his waitress is the other girl he was messaging that day

It's not exactly easy to play it cool in a situation like this. Picture this: you wake up one morning and you scroll on social media for a bit. Then, you complete your lazy morning routine by checking out your dating app matches and messages. You start to message someone new, you exchange witty texts, and you agree to catch up later because you both have to get ready for work. You then check in with the person you had already been messaging for quite some time now because the two of you have a first date scheduled for this evening and you want to confirm that it's still on.

Fast forward a few hours and it's time for said first date. It turns out she's just as kind and chill as she seemed when you were messaging, which we all know is not always the case. Then, the waitress comes to take your drink orders. Uh oh… doesn't this waitress look a little familiar? Yes, she does. She's the other woman you just matched with this morning. And is it obvious that you're on another date right now? Yes, yes it is.

It's not like there was any wrongdoing in this situation; it's simply a funny, unfortunate coincidence. The best thing one could do in this situation is laugh and be honest about the whole thing. 'I went full Karen': Job applicant rejects hiring manager's process, contacts HR, manager gets reprimanded

Job applicants often forget that they have more power than people think they do. In this case, we have a candidate who was lucky enough to be in a more choosy position with their job search. For instance, if a potential employer refused to disclose important information like salary from the get-go, this Redditor would withdraw their application immediately. Power to you, sir!

Here's where things got messy. This one hiring manager had been messaging the applicant and requesting more information following the job application that the applicant felt was not necessary to disclose until after a job offer was put forth. The manager said this paperwork was important to see if the applicant would be a good "culture fit," but the applicant felt that their interview and resume/cover letter should be sufficient. So the applicant called off the process and asked to remove their name from consideration. You would think the exchange would have ended there, but unfortunately, the hiring manager continued to press further, which set the applicant off and sent them into full Karen rage mode.

Keep scrolling below to read the sassy exchange and to find out how the head of HR got involved. When you're finished, take a look at the top Karens of the week!

‘The difference is massive’: Senior employee finds out a coworker is making $16K more than them, asks for a raise which they are denied

Coworkers talk. And I am a firm believer that this is a good thing. It's your right to keep your salary to yourself, but I think there isn't anything wrong with sharing how much you make with fellow coworkers. Companies should have to deal with the repercussions of giving one employee way more than another, despite them both having the same qualifications. In this oh-too-familiar case, OP found out that they were making a whopping 16 THOUSAND dollars less than one of their coworkers, who was working at the company for half the time they were. OP was employed for three years, whereas this coworker was only there for one and a half.

Now, OP wasn't mad that this coworker was making cash… rather, that they weren't making the same amount. Moreover, OP had asked for a raise multiple times after receiving their performance review, which was excellent. So what was with the holdup? This other coworker also asked for a raise, and got a stipend while they waited for HR to 'sort things out'.

What are you going to do in such a situation? Reddit has all the answers, per usual. Scroll down to read OP's entire, detailed description of what was going on, and then the replies that followed. ‘I got offered my old job back with another $1.50/hr thrown in’: Bartender quits on the spot when his approved vacation time gets revoked, management begs him to come back

Money is the only reason that people are grinding everyday at work– and what's the best thing to spend that money on? Traveling. When you get that paycheck every two weeks, it's hard to stop yourself from imagining a beach somewhere with your name on it– or in this case, it's tough not to imagine two tickets to see your favorite sports team with your long-distance girlfriend.

This debaucherous tale of bosses doing what they do best (messing things up), starts with a barman and loyal employee putting in notice for an upcoming vacation. After months of enduring a long-distance relationship with his college girlfriend, OP saw an game coming up for her university's team and decided to book travel and buy expensive game-day tickets to enjoy a nice romantic weekend together. That, of course, was after he got his time off approved at work.

Scroll for the full story of how this barman got the rug pulled out from under him when his boss decided to revoke his vacation leave, giving him an ultimatum that ended up becoming an incredibly profitable win/win situation. 'He woke me up from a nap': Top 20+ Petty Breakups

There are many justifiable reasons to break up with someone: lying, cheating, manipulation, etc. Much to the chagrin of some of you folks, breaking up with someone because they're a bad texter is not exactly the same thing. The same goes for being woken up from a nap or not liking that they're a Julia Roberts fan.

We love the concept of having high standards in theory. Of course, settling for just anyone will only lead to disaster. However, to that end, if you spend the entire time that you're seeing someone searching for flaws and red flags that aren't glaring ones, you're just asking for the relationship to end. Perhaps subconsciously that's what you wanted the whole time. In that case, maybe just don't date for a bit? Because you're clearly not ready for a serious relationship.

That being said, if you all didn't have these problematic reasons to break up with your significant others, then we wouldn't have nearly as much fodder for second-hand amusement. So for your own benefit, you should probably reevaluate your approach to relationships if you're one of these people. But for our benefit, keep 'em coming because there is nothing more entertaining than drama that doesn't affect us personally. Keep scrolling below for these petty reasons people broke up with their exes. When you're finished, here is a list of the top Karens of the week!

‘I made sure it fit their diet… on the outside': Vegetarian roommates eat flatmate's food, flatmate plants meat in pizza crust

Food is a topic people always bicker over. Parents, siblings, roommates… the closest depiction of reality I can think of at the moment in order to give a proper example of what I mean is Joey, from 'Friends'. He doesn't share food, and most people wouldn't appreciate having their own scrumptious morsels being taken out of the fridge and plopped into somebody else's mouth, either. Especially if that somebody didn't ask for permission.

u/BotsAnonymous expressed his disdain for their vegetarian roommates, who would consistently take his food without asking. There are fewer things as frustrating as the entitledness these roommates seem to portray. It all started a few weeks ago when OP had gotten some cheese bread and placed it in the fridge, saving it for later. Later came and went, and with it, the cheese bread.

As if that wasn't infuriating enough, the roommates had only one excuse to give when confronted… and that was, that they were 'tipsy'. Wow, good one. Why didn't I think of that? So original. But hey, points for admitting to it, right? This became a thing, and the pattern began establishing itself. OP got food, OP was left no food. On and on it went, until one day, OP had had enough and decided to enact some petty, sweet revenge on his vegetarian roommates.

He made sure that they were not as vegetarian as they would have liked to be, although, with their morals, I wonder if they even cared. Scroll down for the full story, and next, check out this retired engineer who used his skills to masterfully get back at his own neighbors, who were causing quite the ruckus, and using their pool for parties late into the night.

'So far, she hasn't noticed the smell': 25+ Memorable times people got even using petty tactics

Don't get upset, get even! These people did just that — and they're thrilled to share the results of their petty pay back.

From roommates to dads to coworkers, there are a lot of people who got the petty revenge they deserved. U/Chipdumper asked, "What is your most memorable story of petty revenge?" and roughly 6,000 commenters gathered to share their funniest and most eye-opening tales.

One person made a "Cherry Greasecake" for a food thief — they explained that they used a bunch of lard to create a gross masterpiece. They did manage to find the food thief with this method, so they could call that a success story. Another person writes that they brake-checked a driver that irritated them, resulting in the other driver getting ticketed by police. There are lots of great ideas to consider for the next time you have someone in your own life who could use a bit of extra annoyance in their life. My favorite is the dude who was stunned to see that their high score at the arcade had suddenly disappeared and…you'll have to scroll down to #19 to read what happened.

'There is no way that question disqualified me': Woman loses out on a job she's overqualified for based on her honest answer

A woman with extensive experience as a retail banker applied for a new job opportunity she found on Indeed, but the application process left her feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed. OP explained that she took a year off work to travel the globe, and one of the first questions she was asked on the application was about how long she's been employed at her current job.

Since she's barely re-entering the workforce after a year of exploration, she honestly answered the question by saying she hasn't been employed at the same company for the past 12 months. After submitting that answer, she was automatically rejected and unable to move forward with the application. It's obvious that the company is seeking applicants who can be loyal to one job for a solid period of time, but OP finds the automatic decline a bit strange and potentially discriminatory.

What about people who couldn't stay in the same job for a year based on disabilities or pregnancy, for example? The majority of Reddit responders have encouraged OP to come up with a creative white lie about why she has a gap in her resume, rather than admitting she took the year off to travel. OP claims she'd rather maintain her integrity instead of lying to land a job.

'[My boss] is holding a personal grudge of some sort': Teenage barista is being edged out of work hours by her nitpicking boss

Landing a job as a teenager is stressful enough because you have to balance high school obligations and work hours. For one teenage girl on Reddit, her work situation has become even more anxiety-inducing thanks to a highly nitpicking boss. According to OP, her boss has been verbally encouraging her to quit the job for a while. Her boss has been judging her for making small mistakes like wearing the wrong uniform or taking too long to make a drink.

These minor mistakes are not repeated offenses, according to OP. To make matters worse, her boss also refuses to give her shifts by edging her out and offering barely any hours. OP notices that her boss offers hours to other employees, but never her. All in all, it appears her boss is holding onto a deep-rooted grudge since OP's coworkers are all seemingly doing just fine.

OP feels like she's being singled out and mistreated. She isn't exactly interested in trying to find another job where she'll have to learn new skills since she's still a busy high school student. People who've responded on Reddit are encouraging her to file for employment for lost wages instead of quitting the job altogether. Fortunately, in some states, collecting unemployment money is possible if you've been hit with reduced hours.

Update: 'I've always wanted a green pool': Couple makes repeated complaints about neighbors' backyard, neighbor decides to paint pool permanently to spite them

This swimmer is going to have a very special pool, all thanks to their neighbors.

This couple sound like the neighbors of nightmares. While most people have a passing relationship with their neighbors or are friends with them, other people don't have any intentions of being warm and fuzzy to their neighbors. Instead, they seem to spend all their time criticizing and nitpicking the smallest little details of this OP's yard.

The OP had a great solution to their constant criticisms, which was to paint their pool their favorite color. I don't know why more people don't do this. You'd be the talk of the town if you had a red or purple pool. The possibilities are endless! For neighbors this invasive, the OP would be smart to invest in a really tall fence to stop their prying eyes. Especially because in the final note, the OP says that they were spying on their kids, too. Once the OP gets these neighbors off their back, hopefully they can actually relax and enjoy their green oasis.

Scroll down to read this whole story, which includes photos of the pool during renovations and several updates along the way. Then, these 25+ people shared their pettiest revenge tactics to get back at friends, parents, coworkers, and more.

'They made an expensive mistake': Landlord ignores multiple bed bugs reports, tenant exposes them, costs them a fortune

There's a special place in the afterlife for landlords who refuse to address serious issues from tenants. When it comes to the rampant issue of bed bugs, in particular, it takes a specific kind of sketchy landlord to ignore those calls and emails. It is no understatement that bed bugs are about as scary as conditions can get for tenants. When even the most difficult and paranoid tenant claims that there are bed bugs in their apartment, no matter how wrong they may be, you do not want to dismiss the tenant. The consequences could be long-term and damaging, as they were for this family of landlords.

This tale of petty revenge was posted to Reddit by u/Languid_Bot, whose friend Paul crashed at his place for a big before he got his own apartment. It took less than a week in the new apartment for Paul to realize that the place was infested with bed bugs. The landlord ignored his email, and Paul learned from other tenants in the building that they believed they had bed bugs as well. Paul took the initiative and got an inspector involved. That inspector heard building management gossiping about her, which led to mandatory inspections not just of the entire building but of all the buildings this family managed. Turns out they were all in poor condition, so the inspection was worth it and the costs for the landlords were astronomical.

'I took my speaker and set it as louly as possible': Dude gets revenge on neighbor for having loud phone conversations outside his window

Living next to people in close quarters is never going to be a good time... Having restful peace punctuated by someone else's noise at late or early hours is enough to drive even the most reasonable person insane.

With a higher density population also comes the risk of increased opportunity for disturbance, what with having more neighbors living in tighter spaces giving higher chances that you'll end up next to someone who is clueless about how audible their noisemaking is or just plain old woefully entitled.

In university, one year, I had a studio apartment right next to another chap who must have had dreams of being a singer. I lost count of the number of late nights studying where I was unintentionally serenaded by his full-volume singing reverberating through the paper-tin wall between our rooms. I never mentioned it to him, and to be fair, I've had far worse neighbors in my life, and besides he was of the personality that I suspect he would have been mortified if I ever said anything, so I chose to suffer in silence, so that he could live out his diva dreams.

This dude's neighbor insisted on migrating to right outside his bedroom window in order to engage in her loud full-volume phone conversations. He quickly devised a plan to discourage her behavior. See his story below as he originally shared it with Reddit.

'They pulled the corporate version of negging on me': Worker shamed by current employer for getting a new job after being denied a raise

The owner has bought a second home, the VP has a new Porche in their garage, and the company is turning money hand over fist—enough to the point they're expanding by buying up actual real estate that's being claimed back under operational costs. Meanwhile, inflation has increased by 6% in the last year—you might have even taken a pay cut during the pandemic—and you're finding it hard to make ends meet on your current salary. The company is doing very well, your contributions have been increasingly meaningful, and your skills have increased—now would be a great time to ask for a raise… right? Well, wrong. Despite an obvious boon and constant cash flow, when it comes to asking for a raise, suddenly, it looks like the company hasn't got two cents to rub together.

This worker shared their experience of being on the receiving end of "corporate negging" when they found a new job after being denied their request for a small raise to adjust for inflation. When they told their boss that they were leaving, their boss asked them what their new pay was going to be. You should never answer such questions, but the worker did anyways, promoting a negative remark from their boss about their new rate.

They shared their experience with Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit, getting a flurry of responses from readers sympathetic to their story. See their original post and some of the comments below. Next, see this worker who lost their job offer for trying to negotiate.

'Her kids are not my responsibility': Coworker invites herself to Broadway show, then complains she can't afford it

Here's a cautionary tale about letting coworkers into your personal life. This woman wrote to r/AmItheA**hole with a question about her role in a feud with her coworker: "AITA for telling my coworker her bad decisions and her kids are not my responsibility?"

As u/BroadwayThrowaway1 writes, the whole disagreement started because she was going to a Broadway show with her nine year old daughter. Broadway shows are so much fun — the bright lights, singing and dancing, and colorful costumes can be unforgettable. But these shows don't come cheap. At their least expensive prices, most Broadway plays still cost three figures, even for the nosebleed seats. For lots of people, the only way to get into a high-budget show is to enter the lottery system and hope for a last-minute discount ticket.

So it's odd that this woman's coworker decided she wanted to go too. That's right, the OP didn't invite her, this woman invited herself and her daughter, effectively crashing the OP's mother-daughter outing. Even worse, the OP writes that their two daughters don't even get along.

Some commenters sided with the OP, while others scolded her for not standing up for herself and her daughter. Check out the story below, followed by the AITA verdicts from commenters.

Then, this assistant stunned everyone at their work when they started a frank conversation about money.

'So you know how to make people cry?': Dude flirts with a group of therapists at a bar, mocks their profession, leaves in tears

Will this encounter actually convince a human male to go into therapy? Time will tell…

Here's some advice for any dudes trying to flirt with a group of single women at a bar. Don't mock their profession, especially if said profession involves an acute awareness of human psychology. Because you're bound to end up regretting your decision-making.

This creep went up to this Redditor and her colleagues, who were visiting Atlanta for a work conference. They were studying to be therapists at the time and were going out for a drink after a long day of educational training. That's when this dude decided to ruin the Ladies' Night Out experience by inserting himself into the conversation and trying out some wildly unsuccessful pickup lines. Once he and his buddies learned that these women were therapists-in-training, he decided to make fun of them and insinuate that all they knew how to do was make patients cry. That's when OP decided to play along with this dude's little game. He told her to try making him cry, and boy did he regret that choice.

Let's just say that with one sentence, she knew exactly how to make this guy's face turn bright red, sending him off in an emotional fury. Keep scrolling below for the full story and for the best reactions in the comments section. When you're finished, check out these top dating flops.

'It feels invasive': Manager requests remote access to employee's personal computer during meeting, employee refuses

Welcome to another toxic workplace in which a manager thinks he has way more power than he does! In this case, we have a new horrible boss who doesn't understand how to gain access to his team's project. Rather than admit he needs help to gain said access, he has been forcing various team members to grant him remote access to their personal computers during Zoom meetings. Now that this Redditor is the next one on the team who is expected to do this, he is dreading the meeting.

Let's break down why this manager's expectations are beyond inappropriate. For starters, this is not someone's work computer we're talking about here. This is their personal computer… the same personal computer that includes text messages and search history. The Redditor also revealed that this search history prominently features several job websites, as he has been mass applying to other positions and does not want that information to be revealed to his manager (understandably).

As several folks in the comments section below suggested, OP is well within his right to deny his manager that remote access. He can explain that it's his personal computer and is not only uncomfortable doing this but he is also not required to do this, as this action is not specified anywhere in his contract. Furthermore, the employee can go a step further and set up a meeting with either IT or the office manager to help his boss gain access to the project on his own device. That level of initiative may be a win-win for everyone involved.

For more stories like this, here's one about an employee who discovered their own position on a job posting site.

'The company saved £5k on fees, but got one day of work instead of five': Penny-pinching company gets taught a lesson when their traveling salesman is forced to fly coach

Bureaucratic bean-counting threatens every employee's work-life balance, for none more than the traveling salesmen of the world. To be totally frank, there's always a disconnect between the bean-counters of a company and the footmen because financial decisions are made in an office whereas the salespeople are out there in the trenches. You'd think that the man in the field can see things a bit more clearly than the man on the sidelines…

In this case, a traveling salesman who was accustomed to flying business class, taught his company a tough lesson about corner cutting. In an attempt to save £5,000 (or $6,385), the company decided to 'trim the fat' on their expenses for their employees, shoving OP into economy class instead of letting him fly in the business section. Bannished to the back of the bus!

Because of the discomforts of the flight, the resulting jet lag, and the 16+ hours lost to travel time, OP made a dramatic point about the importance of taking care of your footmen before consulting the bean-counters. For more satisfying stories of traveling employees and their clueless bosses, check out this tale of a frugal businessman who turns his business trips into lavish vacations because of a nitpicking boss.

'Someone changed my schedule without my knowledge': Shift worker gets accused of a no-call, no-show on their day off

Yes, the schedule. The cornerstone, the Monolith, of shiftwork… Obey the schedule—lest you find yourself at odds with some angry shift manager who quotes its existence at you like scripture.

Managers love a good schedule, and they also like complaining about that schedule and blaming the schedule for all of their problems—even when they're the ones who made it. If they schedule you for a shift you couldn't normally work, suddenly, it's "It's on the schedule," "I've posted the schedule." "Sorry, can't change the schedule… You'll just have to make it work!" as if they waited up on a hill for 40 days and 40 nights, etching the dang thing into stone at the direction of some higher power… When they actually just slapped it together haphazardly over the course of an hour on a random Thursday when it was meant to be posted on the Monday before. Even then, they only sat down and actually put the thing together so that they could avoid helping their staff with handling a rush of customers.

This worker shared a series of text messages between their boss and themself, showing an exchange over an issue with the schedule. The messages we have start with the worker responding to their boss, saying that they have "absolutely no idea" why they're scheduled after being scheduled on a day that they didn't usually work and where they had no availability.

You might think that not scheduling workers on days where they have no availability, at least without asking first, would be common sense, but you'd be surprised how many managers do this out of petty spite, desire for control, or simply in order to fill a need without having to have a tough conversation.

The worker had clearly been caught out off guard and unaware of changes to the schedule—but their boss's response was not one of understanding, telling the worker that it was their "response"—ibility to check the schedule every week. As punishment, they were given a no-call, no-show. The worker's response, trying to explain the situation, went unresponded to.

Frustrated, they shared their experience with a popular Reddit sub, where the screenshots of the exchange went viral, buoyed by a heated discussion on the topic.

The worker returned later with an update, telling how another manager who "hates" them had created the schedule… and shared that they are also friends with the General Manager of the company.

There haven't been any further updates from the worker regarding how they are faring in their role under the current situation, but keep reading below to see their original post, the reactions, and the update.

25 Disturbingly Relatable Work Memes for Retail Employees Who Are Dangling By a Thread

Whether you're in management, on the floor, or stuck at the cash register, working in retail sucks the soul out of your body. What I remember most from my retail days are the stand-still hours of enduring the same piped-in soundtrack, while I fought an aneurism when dealing with the idiocracy of every customer that walked through the doors. Some lunatics say that customers are the 'best part of the retail experience', but those people are just the brainwashed bunch of managerial staff who get enthused by holiday bonuses and mandatory meetings. Anyone who is susceptible to the cuckoo customers on daily basis knows that people lose their minds– and their decorum– when they're shopping. What is it about the smell of fresh clothes, receipt paper, and laminate flooring that gets the people going? Perhaps retail shoppers should be shopping for common sense instead of the latest in footwear.

So while you're doom-scrolling on your well-deserved lunch break, feast your eyes on these disturbingly relatable retail memes and ignore the Karens that await you inside. Craving an office job? Check out these memes from The Office to turn your day around.

'The cost of the movers was $14,000': Woman gets even with her deceased partner's vulture children by making them move all his stuff

Crawling out of the woodwork, clawing and muttering, at the slightest potential of securing the smallest amount of wealth, estranged relatives and old acquaintances come calling, feeling out avenues for any possible gain like vultures closing in on a fresh carcass where the lion still feeds.

There's this thing that happens whenever there is money to be had that really brings out the worst people and the worst in people; if you've ever come into a sudden amount of wealth or handled the estate of a loved one, you've probably experienced this for yourself, trying to explain to people who you haven't seen for thirty years why they're not getting a single cent.

Unfortunately, life isn't always a Disney movie, and sometimes the evil stepchildren do end up getting to profit off of the estate of a father they never showed love to—that is, until you factor in the cost of moving everything when their father's partner made things as difficult as possible for them by burying the car they were excited to inherit as deep as possible in the garage behind all his other belongings.

'[They] would listen to one song on loop the whole day': 25+ Employees share their coworker's most annoying habits

We all have that one coworker who just gets on everyone's last nerve. There are many reasons for this, and the people replying to this question have some great examples.

One Redditor had a question: "That annoying coworker --- what does he/she keep doing?" More than 15,000 people wrote in with their own answers, and some of the funniest and most entertaining are included below.

The thing about annoying coworkers is that they either don't think they're being irritating, or they're doing it on purpose to bother everyone. Sometimes you just have to listen that one guy in accounting talk on the phone about his vacation for 3 hours, or watch as your cubicle mate chows down on a smelly tuna sandwich. Unless they're harming someone, there's not much to be done about these coworkers and their mildly annoying habits.

Some of these stories sound like they would make everyone else go insane: for example, the person who listens to the same song over and over, all day, every day. I've had coworkers like that too, and it drives one to madness. There's no other escape but to find a new company.

Up next, check out another work story. This dude was on a call, and thought he was muted, but instead, his boss heard every word of his honest thoughts.

Update: 'My manager replied, "Hey, we can all hear you"': Remote worker caught venting to girlfriend during call with boss

"I thought I was muted," this remote worker admitted. This story gives us a major case of secondhand embarrassment!

For a few years in the early 2020s, tons of workers had to switch from working in an office to planning their days around Zoom calls while hiding out at home. In some cases, folks were working remotely while their families were there too. This guy, u/bdash1990, worked remotely with his girlfriend and had weekly meetings over audio calls. While there was no video, the team of eight could talk to each other about their plans for the week and their priorities.

Check out this story below — and there are even a few commenters who shared their own funny stories of accidentally being too honest with their bosses. It happens to everyone at some point, and depending on what you get caught saying, you'd better hope your boss has a good sense of humor.

The OP added two updates about what their boss thought about their accidental honesty. It's even more awkward because there were so many other witnesses on the call! The OP is never going to live that down, and their coworkers will be telling that story for the rest of their lives.

Next, after getting pregnant, this woman had to tell her dear mother in law exactly why she could no longer stomach her famous mac and cheese recipe.

'[Now I can file] a Wage Claim': Vet tech turns the table on the manager who fires her after she finds out WHY her last paycheck is so late

So long are the days when dreaming about starting your career was fun and exciting instead of stressful and competitive. Remember when us millennials were raised to think we could grow up to be anything we wanted? I clearly remember telling my kindergarten teacher that I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up and she totally fanned that flame—even though I was still struggling on spelling my own name… What a wondrous and magical time. Now, as an adult, you're attaching your resume to apply to a job just to re-enter all of that exact info onto another page. It's no wonder we've lost our patience when it comes to how we're treated in the workplace.

One recently hired vet tech shared her story of how she was able to turn the tables on her vindictive ex-boss. She was hired with the assurance that her septum piercing would not be a problem. She asked multiple times to make sure, but still on her first day, the manager gave her attitude about it. Still, even though she knew the truth, she removed the piercing for the sake of the job. However, the now salty manager wanted to rid of her. After a short time, she told her she was firing her because of the piercing even though she wasn't wearing it anymore. The entire job was toxic, so it seemed like the vet tech wasn't even that mad about getting fired.

What was the straw that broke the camels back, was when she went to pick up her last paycheck and was told it had been sent in the mail. But not just the regular mail, the 'snail mail' mail, which means it wouldn't reach her for 5 to 10 days. However, after posting her sob story on Reddit, the lovely people of the internet opened her eyes to the wage laws of her area, and now that she has been waiting longer than legally allowed, she is able to file a wage claim. It just goes to show you, if you mess around, you are most definitely going to find out.

'I felt insulted': Woman shuts down shoeless coworker who complained that her shoulders were showing

"Thoust not wearing coverings on thy feet shalt not passeth judgment on thy neighbor's shoulders."

While I'm not entirely sure that this was actually a commandment or part of any other religious-moral imperative, it probably should have been… Definitely a missed chance there somewhere—that's all I'm saying.

Still, whether or not it was written in stone, it seems pretty obvious that you shouldn't be complaining about what your coworkers are wearing while your dogs are currently nestled and cozy directly on the office's beige-patterned carpet. At least go put some shoes on first so that you're covering your hypocrisy.

Making any judgments or comments about someone else's appearance really just isn't ok (and a great way to get yourself a one-way ticket to HR), and this is definitely a moral imperative of any reasonable workplace culture. Besides, when you're currently roleplaying as a hobbit, you really haven't got a (hairy) leg (or foot) to stand on.

Luckily, this worker was able to stand up for herself and put her coworker in his place when he decided to take issue with the fact that her shoulders were showing. The worker then turned to a popular Reddit subreddit community to see whether or not she was in the wrong for her retort.

Readers declared her to be in the clear, applauding her comments to the coworker. See her original post and their responses below. Next, see this British dude who tricked his coworker into reciprocating office tea-making etiquette.

'You'll have to... work without the benefits': Employee surprises boss with vacation request after boss refuses to give them a raise and benefits

Despite being a hard worker, this employee just didn't have what it took to get a promotion.

They old saying goes that hard work pays off, but that isn't always the case. In some jobs, you can work as hard as you possibly can, clocking in overtime hours or covering multiple jobs for other people. Unless you have a management team that plans to move you up, all that hard work won't matter at all. In fact, your boss might appreciate your hard work, and decide you're so good at getting things done that they don't want to move you from your position at all.

This person's boss told them they couldn't move up because they didn't have the proper college degree. That must have been frustrating, because if the OP was qualified for the job already, a degree shouldn't matter. Plus, it seems like the boss was really taking advantage of this guy. At least there's a happy ending to this tale of malicious compliance. Commenters advised the OP to try to care more about benefits in their future workplace. Live and learn, OP.

The Top 24 Mildly Infuriating Flops for the Weekend

Some weeks pass by so painfully slow that it makes me wonder, WHAT EVEN IS TIME? How come sometimes time literally flies and I don't seem to be able to gulp a breath of fresh air, while other times the hours just drag on and work becomes enormously stressful and tiring? I am tired of smiling at coworkers, I just want to go home. The topic of the day is literally mildly infuriating fails, and I have had too many of those this week. Apparently, other people are going through the exact same thing. Some encounter these annoying instances on an airplane, while someone else's landlord may just be pushing all their buttons. Yet another person may be stuck in a rut with their neighbor.

People really find endless ways to get under your skin. Well, that's enough of little old me being bitter for now. Scroll down to check out infuriating daily occurrences. Next, here is a hotel clerk who had enough of Karen's requests, and decided to play possum.

'I don’t know if we can offer your position back to you': Worker gets demoted for incident that happened while they weren't even working, boss says "sorry"

There are times when "sorry" really just isn't enough… Getting demoted for an incident that happened while you weren't even working—so that the boss's friend can be promoted into your role—is one of those times. You'd probably expect that you'd be given your job back—at the very least—hopefully accompanied by some form of serious apology or recompense. But an apology by itself, in acknowledgment of the mistake, without overturning wrongly given punishment—simply doesn't cut it.

25 Pizzas with quirky and questionable toppings

Pizzas that are this bizarre make us feel philosophical. At what point does a pizza, loaded up with the most random toppings you can think of, cease to be a pizza pie?

For example, if you take a ball of pizza dough, add some white sauce, and then add lemon slices on it, and bake the pizza... Is that item still a pizza? Or has it transformed into another dish entirely?

Yes, I am talking about the Ship Of Theseus paradox, which asks how many planks of wood could be replaced on a boat until it becomes a new boat entirely. How much must one stray from the original toppings and sauces of a pizza until it's a whole new food item? Please join in these philosophical musings after you check out the pizzas and "pizzas" below.

These creative chefs are answering the paradox for us with their incredible concoctions. It seems like a lot of these pizzas hail from Brazil. The Brazilian pizzas take toppings as a personal challenge: these pies need to have a full meal on top of them. Some chefs are even plopping entire desserts onto the top of the same dinner-topped pizza! I can't imagine the taste sensations that run through your mouth as you take a bite. But someone must be eating and loving them, because they're still being fired up in the oven.

When you're done with these slices and ready for seconds, check out some students who showed off their most unappetizing school lunches ever.
